The drug is for the very rich because of patient and to cover the cost of R&D and development. So the drug may not be expensive but only the rick can afford. This is what it means when private sector is tasked with drug development.

Its not a miracle. If you spend $3 million and it doesn't work, its a failure.

$3 million is more than what many could earn in an entire lifetime.....

But it is science, hard working docs and big money. I am happy it worked for the child and hope it brings joy to the family.

But like all such complicated drugs and surgeries, success isn't always high.

The disease is due to a defective SMN1 gene. The treatment requires the virus to inject the SMN1 gene into the chromosome to correct the defective gene.

Now the meds receive positive publicity. Going to be 4 mil soon.
