Hi I have gotten a new computer and wanted to make my new computer as the system to sync with my iPhone and iPad. No iCloud used. All things saved into computer.

So I copied everything from the old computer to the new computer, including the iTunes folders etc. I also authorised the new computer. The amount of downloaded apps in my computer is about 20GB.

However in iTunes of my new computer, after allowing access, the iTunes shows 0 app available. I even used the command "File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from iPhone but nothing happened.

In the Apps section of the new computer in iTunes, it shows nothing, unlike the old computer iTunes, it would show all the apps I have.

I am able to perform Backup in the new computer, but when I tried to Restore, all the download apps went missing.

I am not sure if I am able to write and explain my problems correctly but if anyone knows of any solution, kindly advise. Thanks.

Your phone with all the apps in - do a backup on your new computer, then do a sync. See if that solves the problem.

I have tried that, with different devices. All backup and sync properly. But I know the apps were not copied somehow.

As far as I know, since some version back, iTunes no longer download the purchased apps from the iPhone.

The only reason I could think of is that when you transfer from old to new, the new PC's iTunes is not using back the itl (library file) that you have copied from the old PC. So, it does not recognise any apps at all. But you should be able to go to the "purchased" option in the App store to download it into your PC again - assuming the apps are purchased after this option in app store is available.

Apps transfer from iphone to iTunes no longer work. In order to have your apps back you need to copy and drag the apps (.ipa) from your old PC to new PC's iTunes.
