ITX gaming Rig

Hi bros gonna DIY a itx gaming rig.

Got about 1.4K Budget for Mobo, Gpu, Psu, Hdd, Cooler and Fans. No need OS or Keyboard/ mouse.

Already bought : U2713HM,Crucial M500 SSD, Crucial 16gb ram and Bitfenix prodigy


Mobo: MSI Z87I +I54670K (Light OC to 4GHZ)
Cooler: NH U12S
PSU: Superflower HX 600M
HDD: WD Green 2TB
Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro 230mm
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce R9 290 (Hope next week release)

Is this setup ok?

Any Bros got better recommendation

by the way will SLS shops be open during Christmas?

The casing is too small to properly cool that 290...

For hdd, go for blue avoid green.

And is windforce cooler not reference cooler.

And other GPU recommendation?

Really small for that beast card. And that beast card its operating temps are gonna be cramped in that small chassis.

Best is you go for silverstone sg10. But too bad you bought already.

You can get the phenom M. But best to go for silverstone sg10 for better cooling for gpu.

i5 4670k ...turbo boost already 3.8ghz...imho...should OC more for effect.

I just built a m-itx system as well. Almost similar config cept I am using a SG-05 case and a GTX680.

Bitfenix case is rather large, I am sure you can fit an 3rd party cooler for the graphics card easily. Can consider the soon to be released Kraken G10 to add an AIO water cooler for it if you are worried about heat.

However, since it is a Windforce model with triple fans, I doubt it will be an issue.

2TB green for storage is fine but price diff for 7200rpm is not that big so I rather you go for that. The speed difference is quite noticeable for me.

Just built for fren a Phemon M w gtx680 ( msi gtx680 TF OC ) and 4670k.. Cooling wise, not too bad ..
benched 3dmark fire strike loop for 30mins, max gpu temp 67degC
Just tht Cable management might be a bit tricky. But its can be done if u spent a bit time on it

680 and 290 is totally different... 290 operates at 94°C constantly and u look at the case design. Gpu drawing cool air from the top vent then push the hot air back into the case. There is another fan at the bottom of the case drawing cold air from the bottom of the case. The hot air will consistently circulating within the case. After 1h of running intensive game, I'm quite sure ur other components will be quite warm as well.

Just my personal opinion. U r free to try it out.

I'm not saying u r wrong. I'm just putting my opinion for other people to know what they r buying into. So they won't regret getting this case.
