Hi!, I been using my workhorse ITX PC I build myself back in 2013. The spec are:

I5 3330 with GA h77n wifi motherboard
8gb ddr3 ram
500gb hdd
GTX 750 ti
PSU Silverstone ST45SF-G
Windows 10 pro

Over the year I have some power on and off issue, can't POST but nothing I can't fix myself by either reseating the RAM, most of it resolved by updating the BIOS to the latest version but in MAY this year, the PC suddenly turn off, I try some method and found that only changing the CMOS battery help. Got the PC working again until early NOV. It stop and can't turn on or post, changing CMOS or reseating the parts doesn't help.

Now if I try to power it ON, the cpu fan spin up than die down before it can BEEP or reach bios.

Any advise?

Addition questions:
- Is my PC dead? like dead dead or is it like half alive, barely dead but not quite~
- Like to try to reach windows as I want to desync my Adobe cs6 license, so that I can use it only on new PC later.
- Is it possible if I just go and change out the CPU + motherboard, ram to newer generations and just use back the same OS hdd?

You can try troubleshooting by using the iGPU and removing the GPU card, use only 1 stick of RAM, try booting with another SSD or HDD.

Might be able to reuse the same OS HDD (depends on your luck). I first booted my Ryzen rig using the OS SSD from the earlier Haswell rig without problem.

However, I suggest you get an SSD for the OS instead. Less than $100 for 500GB.

Yes, I try that already. Removed the gpu and using just 1 ram(I even switched between the 2 slot) but still the same outcome. PC try booting up;fan spin than stop, before restarting itself and again and again.

I have already backup the OS hdd onto a backup ssd. will switch it over once I can boot up my pc.

Can I know more detail on how was your Haswell to AMD process was? Do I need to go with the same motherboard brand, after your first bootup with the new hardware, what happen to all the previous motherboard drivers? Do you need to uninstall them manually? Sorry, I can't fine much info about this online. All I read are you can't or windows 10 need to be re activated and such.

"I try some method and found that only changing the CMOS battery help"

This symptom plus age, maybe BIOS is dead

Try disconnecting power for one day and see if it turns on the second day

The MB brand does not matter. I went from MSI Z97 Gaming 7 + i5-4690K to Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 7 + Ryzen 3700X.

I did not uninstall the existing drivers. Everything worked with the existing drivers. Nonetheless, I updated the drivers with the latest from Gigabyte website.

Windows 10 does need to be reactivated. My Win 10 is tied to my Microsoft account so reactivation was quite straight-forward.

One thing you may need to note is that I am using Legacy and not UEFI BIOS. I'm not sure whether this will work if you are using UEFI BIOS.

Hope this helps.

From what you describe the problem symptoms I suspect is either psu or motherboard. Most likely problem can be fix 100% by replacing either of this parts depending on which is faulty. Maybe the motherboard starting to fail or the psu old and age already start to have problem also. Is usually either of this 2 most of the time for this type of symptoms.

Addition questions:
- Is my PC dead? like dead dead or is it like half alive, barely dead but not quite~
Not quite. It could be just 1 of the parts that is faulty causing this problem. My suspect is the motherboard or psu. Replacing it with new parts should fix the problem. If you have no spare psu or mobo to swap you will have to make a guess and swap out one of the parts with new parts. I have encountered your problem before it is exactly the same. 1 time found out is mobo swap to new mobo and problem solve. The other time is psu problem swap to another psu and working 100%. So this is speaking from past pc troubleshooting experience.
I think one good suggestion is that you can bring your rig down to nigel let him test which parts is faulty. After that just replace the faulty parts will do. If you don't want to guess is psu or mobo. Is very hard to troubleshoot this kind of problem without spare parts to test.

Yes you can. Just put the ssd or hdd that you have with the windows 10 os on the new pc and it should work fine. Windows 10 will reinstall all drivers and stuff to make it work on the new pc automatically. But best is to install a fresh copy of windows os as there could be unused programs and windows registry that is for the previous old system one.

Possible with Windows 10.

Looks like a dying motherboard to me, many of my older systems experienced pretty similar symptoms as yours

Ok, I went ahead and try that.

Try that too, I works for me back in june and July, where it randomly turn off and keep restarting. I need to remove the CMOS battery and power cable and let me seat for hours before i can turn on and reach Windows.

Ok, thanks. That info are very helpful. I will take note of that Legacy setting.

UPDATE

------------------------------

I took out my parent PC, which is a sister PC I build along side my ITX but my parent never use it. Spec are:

I3 3250 + B75M-DGS
4gb DDR3 Ram
1GB hdd
Windows 10 pro.
Seasonic 520W ATX PSU

I took out the ATX psu and replace it with my ITX, got the same looping boot up but after looping again and again 4 times, it's start to repair the bios and than windows 10 repairs and after 1 more restart, I manage to reach into windows 10. I let the OS update my cloud service(been a month since I got into windows 10) than I deactivated my Adobe suite and backup some of my stuffs before shutting it down again.

I took my ITX psu and connect it to my parent PC, got the same boot up loop, that counldn't reach BIOS and than surprisingly it works fine after 1 or 2 startup loop. So ITX PSU is working fine?

I try to start up my ITX again, still connected to the ATX psu but this time, it won't start up and keep looping like before. Motherboard problem?

I put back the ATX PSU in my Parent PC and test the ITX RAMs on it, move from my ITX to the ATX. When I put my ram one by one into the ATX, the motherboard BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP, 4 beep, can't reach BIOS and keep looping. Another RAM is fine. 1 of the DDR3 ram on my ITX fault?

I put everything back into the ITX except the faulty RAM I label. Try to boot up my ITX again and it working again..........

Like many of you have said, might be the motherboard dying.....

Carousell? But the motherboard dying and without the HDD?
Yup. Cheap cheap just throw. No headache what so ever. Did it a few times. Unless u have the time, then sell part by part. Shiitel just go pawn by AMD so prices are quite low now
