Hi all,
I am planning to build my computer with the following specs. The casing is something I wanted for the longest time ever since my friend got his. Very sleek and super compact, yet able to fit a decent graphic card, with decent airflow (positive air pressure).

Case+PSU: Silverstone SUGO SG08 mini-ITX Case (Black) with 600W 80+ Bronze PSU

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI H87I H87 Skt1150 Mini-ITX Motherboard with WiFi b/g/n & Bluetooth

Memory: 16GB (2x 8GB) 1600MHz CL11 DDR3 Value Ram

Video Card: GTX 760? R9 280? Need recommendation here. Graphic cards must be less than 12" to fit into casing.

Storage HDD: Thinking of getting a WD Red 3TB for storage to fit into this casing. Can the WD Red be used like this (instead of in a NAS) My cousin bought his WD Red 3TB for his Synology NAS at SITEX fair for $178, so the price should be around there?

I already have a Intel 530 240GB SSD bought from Amazon (during BF).
I am intending to get a Qnix or Crossover 27" monitor from Qoo10.
No overclocking will be done.

Need recommendation for GPU.

I know that Tradepac have the best pricing but I've checked and they do not sell this casing. (Thus not eligible for a full rig, thus not easy to get good discounts?)

Where else do you think I can assemble this build at the best pricing available in SLS? Or for best pricing, I should buy parts separately?
Confirm is going to buy (and build) by this week.

Motherboard get the msi b85m g43gaming since you not going for raid
Ram 8gb should ne enough i guess
Graphics card get the r9 280x or wait for non ref r9 290 but get fast prices going up

2nd thing reconsider your 16gb ram options. No point going 16gb unless you are using photoshop and rendering purposes. A 8gb is more than enough for a gaming rig. Furthermore its not gonna fit in your budget. Plus I doubt prices of ram would ever go down. Its ever going up for the years. Never went down.

3rd an itx build is costly. With a budget of 1.5k its not gonna land you a decent specs.

4th by right the website do states that there is a psu included. But in sg for silverstone it doesnt come with one somehow. Sg08 is quite an old model to be honest. And might be hard to find in sls. Sg9 or 10 is a good chassis and supports matx. Can be small also. Thus might be able to reduce the overall board and cpu pricing.

it depends on what some people would consider as a gimmick.. in a space restricted build (eg. ITX), "built-in" wifi would save you either the only available PCIe slot, or a USB port, either of which might be important to the user... not all boards have a mini PCIe slot available...

Yeah I get it. Just that some of my friends I had thought is something embedded into the board. Meaning to say hard solder lol. Thats what some people think.

I've got quote for the casing+psu, ram, mobo and cpu at 900. Adding in estimated gpu and/or storage hdd to get budget of $1500/$1320.

1. I understand this. But for MSI the decent ITX mobo comes with wifi. For other brands' itx mobo without wifi, the difference in cost is about 10-20 bucks cheaper.

2. Well, I do photoshop, no rendering. But I multi-task heavily and the computer is left on 24/7 most of the time, with lots of programs running. 3 browsers open with at least 10 tabs open in each. So I prefer more RAM to minimize any lags. I also run PHP scripts every night to do some data mining. And run WAMP with Apache and PHP to debug sites.
Lastly, future proofing it ba. My current computer 5 years already. I hope my next one can last 5 years too. (current one still runable, just that PSU fan failing. In the course of 5 years, only changed case fan and added 2gb ram on top of the original 2gb. And since it is on 32bit XP, RAM is in heavy shortage...it is just so slow now when switching between apps and others.)

3. I understand that ITX build is costly. But looking at other casing, I did not find one I really like. Even bitfenix prodigy or cm130 is ugly imo. Next closest case I found nice is Fractal Node 304.

I hope the specs I listed initially are somewhat decent enough. I never plan on overclocking, add cooling or add additional gpu cards to my computer (noob in those).

4. My friend's rig bought in Singapore (forget exactly when, but definitely was a little before Diablo 3 was released.) came with the PSU. And looking at PCT price list, I am sure it comes with the PSU too. But it is really pricey, that I agree.
The reason for SG08 is I am enamored by the aluminium finish on the front. Very nice. SG09/SG10 I don't like the front with the mesh.

Would like some advice concerning GPU too.
What is a decent GPU that can power a Korean 2560x1440 monitor?
If can game at that resolution too will be best, but since I don't game much, it is not critical.

Was initially considering GTX 760. But reading some of the recent threads, I saw that royfrosty state that R9 280 is at 440, which is about 50 bucks more exp that GTX 760. But much more powerful right? So it will be more value to get that?

But I do see gigabyte r9 280x in cybermind a few days back. Probably oos before you could reach sls.

I am not very knowledgeable on gpu. Try to learn what I can from the threads here. Lol.

I am more inclined towards msi just because corbell is in the north. But beggars can't be choosers when stock is simply not available.

Thanks all for your help here.
Went to buy the rig today. Got the last piece of gigabyte r9 280x though not at tradepac's attractive price at $42x, but still very good discount.
In the end I got the following:
- i5-4570
- MSI H87i itx mobo
- G skill 8gb x 2
- Gigabyte R9 280x OC 3GB
- Silverstone SG 08 black with custom 600+ W Bronze PSU
- HiVi Swans M10 2.1 speakers
All for less than $1.5k.
Learnt a lot, research a lot on hardwarezone before going down. So need to thanks all for your help!

And as of today, Cybermind no more stock for all brands of r9 280x except for ASUS.
Mynextcom got one MSI one with BF4 version left at $490.

Mynextcom like not so friendly in pricing. Went down to the shop, he pointed to the computer mounted at the side of his shop and was told to check his site for prices myself. What you see online will be what you get. No more further discounts. But his price is already more expensive than listed price on Cybermind price list. And Cybermind does further discount abit when I went to ask for quote.

Just want to add that t258jgn give very good pricing on itx build too, for anyone considering to build on his own. I did not buy from him in the end, as I was very scared that I cannot handle all the cabling and assembling for such a tight case myself, and so went for the convenience of those that provide build and assemble service.

In the end, because of availability of both casing and R9 280x, I bought and build mine at PC Themes, serve by Yilong. Not to mention, he really try his best to give me a best price at the end.

Now only left my monitor. Which I am going to order a Qnix 2710 27" 2560x1440p Korean monitor on Qoo10.
