ITX system for traveling

Theoretically, if one can travel, is it worth it to build a portable ITX system?

Will there be problems with the liquid inside AIO coolers when checking in? Will airlines allow carry ITX as carry ons?

Or is it just better to build an ATX system and just disassemble and reassemble parts in the destination country?

Cannot hand carry if its using AIO.

check in luggage sure kena throw. got put fragile sticker or never put sure throw. i work with SQ b4 and we mostly throw.

that only occurs if you late check in. late check in means your luggage go hold 5 or loose cargo area not on pallet.
or if you MIA before flight.

Well, you can try. But the security may want you to specify what liquid is inside the AIO. If he is nasty, he can even get you to show that its indeed less than 100ml. Pour out the liquid from the AIO and show him. Then demand material safety data, show its certified safe to take onboard plane etc.....

IF you cant, then you have to surrender your AIO or even your whole PC for inspection etc......

So if I don't want to go to the hassle of inspection, I need to have an air cooler. But air coolers in ITX is limiting.

Seems to be that I want performance, no choice but to go ATX.

Take a look at the Lian Li TU150. That case is small but not too small and you can fit a reasonably sized air cooler into it. The handle makes it easy to move around so its intention was for people who travel!

What sort of performance are you looking at ?

If no need heavy duty gpu, can look at low profile cases like Silverstone Milo/Raven series.

I feel it is impractical to have an ITX rig for traveling. Besides the casing that you need to lug around, while it is small, but depending on your setup, it can get very heavy. Assuming you are going to use the TV in your hotel, thus, no need for a monitor, you will still need your keyboard and mouse.

For all these hassles, I rather you get a mid range gaming laptop, or you can consider a game console since they are typically smaller and yet packs a power GPU.

This suits you. I am using it. If do not need powerful GPU, this should be able to hand carry. I brought it along with me once for a small project overseas. I recommend to find one without tempered glass though, I might be lucky.

Mac Mini + portable monitor + small keyboard + mouse is actually doable.

But have to pay premium for Mac Mini compared to PC

I used the site below to compare the Lian Li TU150 with the NR200. The difference is not that big. This might be what I need.

I think the case was made for mobility in mind, i.e. bring to a friend's place, but I don't think it is meant for one to bring it overseas.
