Jacky Wu Cuts Ties With 23-Year-Old Son After Latter Gets Busted For Drugs​

The 59-year-old Taiwanese host says the best thing for his son to do is to "get lost".

Taiwanese host Jacky Wu, 59, has announced that he has cut ties with his son, singer Rick Wu, after the 23-year-old was arrested on Dec 26 for alleged drug use.

Rick, who is also known by his stage name LucyPIE, was arrested outside a nightclub in Taipei's Xinyi district after patrolling police officers detected the smell of marijuana and found a “suspicious cigarette” on him. He has since been released on a NT$100K (S$4.9K) bail.

He wants Rick to face the press himself

Rick is due to hold a press conference later today (Dec 29) to promote his new album, however, Jacky revealed that he and his eldest daughter, host Sandy Wu, will not be attending the event.

Celebs, including Micky Huang, who was supposed to host the press conference, have also dropped out from the event, leaving Rick face the music himself. No pun intended, of course.

In an interview with SET News yesterday (Dec 28), Jacky said: “The best [thing for Rick to do] is to get lost and stay as far away as possible. I have done all my responsibilities [as a parent] and I hope that he will go his own way. Let him be free!"

He added that he will not fork out any more money to help his son in future.

When asked if Rick intends to announce that he is starting his own company or quit showbiz, Jacky replied: “You will find out tomorrow.”

Disappointed as a father

After news of Rick’s arrest made headlines, Jacky shared on Facebook that he is “ashamed as a father” and implored the judge to impose a heavy sentence on Rick.

In 2018, Rick threatened to “blow up Taipei City Hall” and “make everyone pay for it” if his girlfriend didn’t recover from an unspecified illness.

Jacky later apologised on his son's behalf and Rick received a one-year deferred sentence and was slapped with a NT$500K (S$24.5K) fine.

I was expecting him to apologize, and admit his shortcomings as a dad for not guiding his son well. And will take responsibility in the process to rehabilitate the son and guide him back to the right path once he's out from prison.

But instead, he jit tao disowns the son. So in a way he's saying his son is ****** up but its not his fault at all. Satki dad !! LOL
