I'm thinking of either doing Hakone or Kawaguchi but not both
Been to Hakone before but view of Mt Fuji blocked by fog so this time I'm trying Kawaguchi.

What kind of lodging you looking for? Maybe we can share info.

Did you manage to secure any rooms in Kyoto? I'm still searching after so many days. Seems that first week of April is super peak season for sakura viewing

yup, sakura season is very popular with tourist including domestic travellers, so hotels are usually fully booked. y not stay in Osaka instead? it is only about 30min from Osaka to Kyoto

wow even Osaka is quite fully booked except for ulu places near the airport.... Now searching Nara...

Managed to secure one near tenmabashi
Rakuten travel seems to be quite good. Many sites like agoda, hotels.com, japanican can't even find any available rooms.

Just sharing my latest update on my Itinerary and plan below. I've decided to rent a car to fully explore Lake Kawaguchi and MT fuji

day 6 (Hakone)
Hakone 1 day pass + Romance Car

Day 7 (Lake Kawaguchiki)
Rent car at Gotemba 11am
Road Trip/Self Drive around Lake Kawaguchiki

Day 8 (Kyoto)
Mount Fuji 5th Station Sabara
Return Car at Mishimi Station at 4pm and travel to Kyoto via Shinkansen
