wat time u arriving on 1st day?
miyajima will take quite some time also if u plan to go up mt misen.
how about shifting some of the things to 3rd day and reaching osaka late?

yah, u can have 3 days for kyoto. ur 2nd day at kyoto a bit packed. can fully focus on arashiyama on 2nd kyoto day, and leave the others for the 3rd day

8.30 reach airport, clear customs etc, after that take bus to hiroshima station then train to miyajima, should be around 1030.

dont intend to go up mt misen cuz gf is not an outdoor sporty person :s22:

to 3rd day also can, i assume there's luggage locker too at hiroshima station? so can leave luggage there and continue to mazda museum english tour guide at 10am, then maybe continue rest of hiroshima and go osaka later in the evening or so.

will split 1 day up for kyoto. anyway, you have any idea the sagano scenic train will be crowded ? intend to take the first timing from Saga Torokko Station to Kameoka Torokko Station. any where i can get the tickets thru online or other means ? or only able to get from the counter itself ?

thank you ~ :D

y not just leave ur luggage at ur hotel?

no idea if there is online reservation for scenic train. wat i did was to buy the tickets when i reach the place, then go sightseeing at bamboo grove, temples etc, before coming back for the scenic train.

December 2015 trip

Hi all, will be travelling to Japan for the second (!) time this year. I'll be going with my family this time, so it will be a mixed bag of old and new tourist attractions, since I've been there three times already, but my parents and younger brother have not.

Here's my brief itinerary; we're flying on ANA this time, Dreamliner woohoo!

Day 1, 3/12: SG - Tokyo, Shinjuku, Take-no-yu onsen
Day 2, 4/12: Meiji shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya
Day 3, 5/12: Tokyo Tower, Odaiba
Day 4, 6/12: Day trip to XX [I'm planning on getting the JR Kanto Area Pass. Am considering a day trip to Ibaraki/Saitama/Nasu Kogen/any recommendations?]
Day 5, 7/12: Tokyo - Kusatsu onsen, spend the night at the onsen resort
Day 6, 8/12: Kusatsu - Karuizawa, Outlet malls, Evening back to Tokyo
Day 7, 9/12: Disneysea [fixed date. checked, lowest crowd forecast]
Day 8, 10/12: Asakusa, Akiba, Ueno
Day 9, 11/12: Morning will be empty, afternoon flight back to Singapore

Thanks!

i have only been to ibaraki, havent been to saitama or nasu kogen.
for ibaraki, most places not very suitable for day trip coz of the travelling time involved. Hitachi Seaside park would be doable, but i think there isnt much to see in dec. maybe u can consider mount tsukuba?

this sounds interesting, but doesn't seem worth the trek all the way to hitachi...:/

Yup, will be booked under the same airlines. I called JAL , they advised upon arrival at Tokyo Haneda Airport, I have to clear the custom, retrieve my luggage, out of arrival hall, check in my luggage at JAL domestic counter outside the arrival hall then take shuttle bus to domestic terminal. The staff advised the time is sufficient. But I am still worry.. 😓

hmm... i tot same airline they usually can check ur luggage thru. u can double confirm this when u are checking-in ur luggage at changi

dun worry, since u book from the same airline, they will ensure that u get to ur destination. so even if u miss ur connection, they will put u on the next flight.

and it may help if u tell a ground crew when u arrive in haneda. they may escort u and give u priority in queues if time running out.

Yup, when I read from their website, they also state check thru luggage is possible for connecting flights. As you advise, I will double check with the check in counter at changi. Thanks for your help

22 Oct Thur - North & Western Kyoto
Arashiyama, Togetsukyo Bridge, Sagano Bamboo Grove, Sagano Scenic Railway, Tenryuji Temple, Nijo Castle? - Kinkakuji pavilion, Hodu Gawa Kudari River Cruise?

(This day seems quite packed huh..not sure what to skip..husband likes scenic places..maybe leave out nijo castle?)

23 Oct Fri (undecided yet, options below, any comments/recommendations?)
1) Toei Movie Village? 2) Umeda Sky Building + Floating Garden Observatory? 3) Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses? 4) Museum of Living and Housing? 5) Tampozan Ferris Wheel? 6) Hanahaku Expo Park? 7) Mino waterfall

(Anything we can do in between? Will have to deposit luggage at some locker nearby though..)

Another question: Would you recommend any pass to get, since I will be travelling between Osaka and Kyoto for 3 days? I am confused by the many passes available..not sure whether it makes sense to get a pass or just use the ICOCA card.

Thanks in advance! :)

[some of these can be visited in the evening/night on other days, especially 20 oct which looks quite empty]

24 Oct Sat -
11am Check out

[cannot leave luggage at hotel?]

[u can get a bus pass for getting around kyoto. other than that, u dun need any pass to get around]

Thanks in advance! :)

Your Osaka itinerary are mostly covered by Osaka Amazing pass, check them out and see how much you can save out of t, should be lots as your itinerary matches their offer.

https://www.osaka-info.jp/osp/en/index.html

One comment on Minoo Park, the park would be quite boring and far if its non Koyo season. You are going there during end Oct, not too sure this year can occur so much earlier as its usually start from late Nov. Otherwise it's a long walk up the waterfall(other than koyo) which is, IMO, not fantastic, considering the time and effort to reach it.

But if Koyo season, i think Minoo park must be very very beautiful as the whole place is full of maple trees.

For your reference and consideration.

Thanks! You guys are really so much more helpful than my unconstructive husband, who refuses to look and give comments and instead says (tongue-in-cheek) that he prefers to complain when he is there. =7

Thank you for your comment! I feel less pain cutting Mino waterfall out of this trip, since i don't think the leaves in Osaka would have turned red yet. :)

u can consider putting Tampozan on one of the nights. i would think it will be more beautiful at night. u probably wun have much to do at night for those days u are visiting kyoto anyway.
