planning to go to Universal Studio Japan n DisneySea

Hi,

can anyone recommend on the best way to book tickets from singapore for USJ and disneysea?? Is booking via their website much more affordable?

1st time to tokyo with 2 kids ( aged 5 years old and 1 year old) and will be staying at shinjuku area

do you think my itinerary below too much / too rush / too little

Day 1 - arrive sunday morning
- Shibuya / Harajuku
- Shinjuku
- Meiji shrine
[meiji shrine is in harajuku, so u can do it in the morning. harajuku itself may take more than half a day if u are covering meiji shrine, yoyogi park, takesh!ta-dori and omode sando. so u may not have time for shinjuku]

Day 2
- Tsukiji Fish market
- Tsukishima
- koishikawa korakuen
-ginza

Day 3
- Asakusa
Tokyo sky tree / sumida aquarium
- sensoji temple
- ueno park / Tenjin Shrine
[maybe put ueno park in the morning. coz skytree can visiting in the evening/night]

no idea where else to go for Day 4 and 5 , thinking maybe Disneyland but if there are better suggest will skip disneyland cos can go again year end lolz
[u can consider going odaiba. quite a lot of kids friendly attractions there such as ferris wheel, LEGOLAND, madam trussaud]

btw which premium outlet is better .. there are 3 in tokyo area
[I have not been to the outlets, so cant comment]

do you think i can do Fuji 5 lakes as day trip ?
[yes, it is possible. but the place is best enjoyed leisurely, with an overnight stay in a ryokan. and dunno if ur kids can tahan the long bus journey]

just like to ask some of your views on our itinerary

day 1 tokyo
arrived from narita 4pm
check in hotel u narita near the airport
dinner and some sight touring ( do we need to change our JRPASS for 7days on this day or can we wait tom)

day 2 depart from narita to tokyo to kyoto
-reach prob around 2pm?
-chck in airbnb near the Pavillion ( can we used our JRPASS to travel kyoto city?)

just like to ask some of your views on our itinerary

day 1 tokyo

[how about heading to Tokyo and staying a night there instead? u probably still have time for dinner and sightseeing, maybe go see Tokyo tower at night, or shopping at some malls.
alternatively, u can head straight to Kyoto. but the last connecting train departs narita airport at 1848hrs, so it may be risky if there is any delay in ur flight.
u can activate the pass the next day if u are head from narita to Kyoto only on day 2. but u can exchange for the pass first]

day 2 depart from narita to tokyo to kyoto
-reach prob around 2pm?
-chck in airbnb near the Pavillion ( can we used our JRPASS to travel kyoto city?)
- go walk and sight seeing
[if u take earlier train, u can reach Kyoto ard 12+. daylight is precious coz there is nothing much to do in Kyoto after dark
JR pass cant be used in Kyoto coz getting ard is mostly by subway and buses. there is a 1-day bus pass for 500yen which can get u to most places in kyoto]

day 3- shrine temple
(any advised please give)
[the popular ones will be kiyomizudera, kinkakuji, fushimi inari]

day 4 - attractions
[maybe arashiyama?]

day 5- travel to osaka
[since u dun have many days, I suggest u stay either in Kyoto or Osaka throughout. it is only 30min between Osaka and Kyoto, and the trip is covered by JR pass. save u the hassle and time for changing accommodations.
I would suggest staying in Osaka since u can use the night time for shopping and eating in Osaka after sightseeing in Kyoto during the day. Kyoto have less things to do at night.]

day 6- USS

day 7 travel back to tokyo

day 8-9 tokyo sight seeing

rush or not depends on wat u plan for each day.
the Kyoto and Osaka part looks alright. u shld be able to cover the major attractions there. Tokyo u only have 2 days, not really enuf. so have to priorities the places u want to go. will be too rush to try to cover all the main attractions

[u can start with meiji shrine and yogogi park first coz the shops in takeshita-dori dun open so early. u probably dun have time for Shinjuku.]

I dun really have much to add. maybe u can consider going Tokyo tower since it is near roppongi.

for kawaguchi, the round-trip ticket by JR east is currently not avail. but they bring it back every now and then, so keep a lookout for it:

I went there many years back, so no idea wat it is like now.
generally weekends will have more frequent buses, but also increased crowd. dunno wat is the crowd situation now. when I was there on a weekday, there are very few ppl

the places u have planned for day 4-8 are all over japan. will need to plan ur route carefully.
mt Fuji and izu are in Shizuoka prefecture
yokohama is nearer to Tokyo, so can visit it as a day trip when u are back in tokyo
Kyoto is near Osaka, so visit Kyoto first before leaving for other places.
Kurobe gorge is in north of Chubu region. will be very out of the way from the places u are going.

I would suggestion something like this:

Hi! Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, we've alr booked a full 14n accommodation in Tokyo so prolly won't be able to stay over in other places really like your suggestion on squeezing yokohama with tokyo, thank you!
