half hour to clear customs a bit too optimistic. 1hr or more will be more realistic.
there is no shinkansen from kansai airport. Haruka is a limited express train.

from my understanding, nishiki market only opens till ard 5pm. dun think there is anything there at night. best to double check if there is anything open at night

Thank you!! In that case, I will head to Pontocho!

no idea. i havent buy online before
any names on the e-ticket? it is for a specific date?

Thank you

You could actually use google map and hyperdia to plot, time needed to place of interests and how fast/slow you want to your pace to be. Also dunno if you are type that can wake up early to beat the crowd to visit some places of interest.

Doable or not, it really depend on the above mentioned.

Itinerary 5th to 14th May (Osaka/Kyoto)

Hi guys,

I'm heading off with gf to Osaka/Kyoto next week! I've done quite a bit of research for this itinerary, but it would be great if you guys can look through and see if there's anything wrong with it?

I think Kyoto might be too packed, as I realised that there's more stuff to do in Kyoto than Osaka (sadly our accomodation is already fixed). Maybe could travel back to Kyoto again on our free day!

Day 1 - Thursday (Kyoto)
15:20 Land at KIX
Buy ICOCA+Haruka to Kyoto
Check in at hotel
Dinner near hotel

Day 2 - Friday (Kyoto)
Buy 500 yen bus pass
Kiyomizudera
Kinkakuji
Ryoanji
Ginkakuji/Philosopher's Path (if there is time)
Dinner at Gion

Day 3 - Saturday (Kyoto/Osaka)
Fushimi Inari
Train to Umahori station for Arayashima Scenic Train
Arayashima Bamboo Grove
Nishiki Market (if there is time)
Retrieve luggage from hotel
Train to Osaka AirBNB

Day 4 - Sunday (Osaka/Nara)
Day trip to Nara (Kintetsu-Nara station)

Day 5 - Monday (Osaka)
Cup Noodles Museum
Ippudo for lunch (near cup noodles museum)
Dotonburi/Shinsaibashi for rest of day

Day 6 - Tuesday (Osaka/Kobe/Himeji)
Use 1-Day JR Kansai Area Pass (2200 yen online)
Kobe for early lunch at Steakland
Himeji for rest of day

Day 7 - Wednesday (Osaka)
7:30 Universal Studios (rush for Harry Potter)
Dinner at Takoyaki Museum right outside USJ

Day 8 - Thursday (Osaka)
Osaka Aquarium
Shopping

Day 9 - Friday (Osaka)
Free day

Day 10 - Saturday (Osaka)
Stop by Rinku Premium Outlets near airport
16:20 flight back to SG

heading to mt fuji on day 9 from hakone then back to tokyo in the evening/night?
that way, u can use ur JR pass for the JR portion of the trip back. and mt fuji is near hakone too.

Thanks evilerniex! For day 6, I'm planning to stop at kobe first to enjoy the lunch sets for kobe beef, which are much cheaper than dinner. Since you suggested mount rokko, do you think such a trip is okay:
osaka -> kobe for early lunch near station -> himeji -> kobe for mount rokko -> osaka

Need to go so early ah? I was thinking of queuing at 830..

Based on reviews on tripadvisor, the gate can open as early as 8am. If you have no express pass, going an hour early will save u many hours of queuing.

since u are not staying there, u have the flexibility to decide when u are there. if weather is bad, u can head straight to tokyo from hakone, else can go fuji first before going to tokyo

how about morning at himeji, then lunch at kobe? then explore kobe port area, chinatown or kitano and evening go mt rokko

hmm from hakone whats the best way to reach kawaguchiko? Also is it worth to stay at kawaguchiko for the night? i dont mind doing that honestly, but if i stay for the night my JR pass will be over the 7days already?

Unless i change to hakone 1 night and kawaguchiko 1 night.

take bus from hakone to kawaguchiko. fuji hakone pass may be worth it to cover the transport:

i have not stayed in kawaguchiko, so cant really help. maybe u see which area have more attractions u are interested in, then decide where to stay base on tt?

if u have a YOLO mindset, u can consider FujiQ ( Rides of a lifetime ) since u r around the vicinity of hakone.

While kawaguchiko is more of a place to take photo of mt Fuji n it reflection onto the lake.

Thanks guys. Thanks evilerniex i think that sounds like a good option. Fuji Hakone pass to cover all transport in the 2 areas sounds great. but I think it will make sense to just head back to tokyo from Kawaguchiko then? so my JR pass will be utilised only on day 3 from tokyo to kyoto and day 7 (kyoto to odawara station)
