Wow. Didnt know so expensive to visit the ropeway. Did you spend a full day there? What else you did over there? Thanks for sharing!

Day 4: yes going back takayama. Hotel already booked. But will be staying at a hotel spring hotel in Takayama.

Day 5: nope. Booked abit too late unable to find accommodation there

Mid December. Around 15 will be in takayama/ropeway. Yeah this year seem warm but hope will change in the next week

Pls book online bus to Shirakawago and book the earliest bus so village won’t be crowded. Go straight up to hilltop lookout first to escape crowd. Morning queues for tickets at Takayama can be crazy. Like VD said, book online just flash confirmations and board.

Takayama must eat Hida beef steak, Yakiniku and the famous Hida sushi in old town. Like elsewhere, lunches are cheaper. Since your staying ryokan dinner shd be included.

Staying in Kyoto is different experience from busy Osaka. Mid Dec still have chance to visit Yamazaki Distillery (between Osaka and Kyoto). Must book online your tour slot. Just Google “Yamazaki Distillery”.

Oh. But online don't have the package right? I understand there is a package that include the bus and ropeway.
