Well hopefully more ppl can see beyond the touristy japan...

It's quite sad that most japanese ppl not only discriminate and despise the ppl who need the most help e.g. single parent families living beyond the poverty line, they don't wish to acknowledge their existence as well, as though they are an ugly scar, which denies these ppl of the assistance they require

Yup got recent show on this and it's probably worse with part-time jobs more scarce. Though got some organizations providing overnight accommodation for those ppl.

I believe still the same. I saw a few homeless people getting their 'beds' ready in Yokohama in early winter last year. depressing, cant fathom how they tahan the cold.

Just watched a recent Quan Yi Fong led TCS documentary on this then I googled it.
Search Toggle if you want to watch it.

Just to let some naive Sinkies here who believe Japan is heaven.

Read that there are also there are about 6 million elderly Japanese workers.

Go & watch NHK.
Also many elder people die alone.
They even have private companies (for a fee, of course), which clean up the deceased place & return valuable to the relatives.

but compare to japan , korea has the most slum...........

To break their daydreaming about Japanese
Japanese.
I have been to Japan (mostly solo),even solo hiked Mt Fuji summit & saw mostly its glamorous parts.

I saw a Japanese guy in busy Shinjuku last year who suddenly shouted, kicked & damaged the fire alarm.
Osaka red-light area could be full of rubbish overnight too.

I witnessed a drunkard lying in train floor but the Japanese simply crossed over him.

...but still posting in Japan part of the forum :o

Who are you even trying to preach to? I haven't seen any thread or post in these forums saying that Japan is perfect and can do no wrong; I'm pretty sure most (all?) of us are perfectly aware that holidaying in a country and living in it are two very different realities, and that Japan - like any other country - has its share of skeletons in the closet.

I believe anyone who has travelled to Japan knows the good and bad. The only people who have illusions about a country are those who follow the culture but have never actually been to the place.

Just like those Kpop fans who have never seen how real Koreans actually look like or live their lives.

When Tourist come SG for short trip, it look so beautiful on the streets 6 days per week except Sunday :s13:
Those tourists who did not came to orchard on Sunday will think it's a shoppers heaven while those who came might think differently.

Not really... quite chilling... but not as chilling and cold as Seoul... caught the fireworks at Odaiba yesterday night... was quite cold if stay outdoors for that duration...

I was literally freezing in Seoul just a couple of days ago... managed to catch some snow on my 2nd last day...
