anyway i believe the connector on the ciem itself is much more sturdier
cable connector spoil better than ciem spoil
can easily just terminate and change to new connector

Sounds serious..

But currently, this issue seems quite isolated..

Maybe when more of such cases happen then it means something.

Looking at the photos, it seem more like the cable connector issue instead of the IEM, not that big since the connector on the cable side can still be further improved.

What's more important is that the IEM itself is intact.

JHA just gotta make that screw cap tougher than a fragile dried leaf since it'll be touched, twisted and slide many many times for those going for after market cables.

Given the price tag, the QC is without a doubt a priority and cheap components inexcusable.

Quite frankly, I have been an owner of the MDR-EX800st EX Monitors since July 2011, so honestly its been in usage for more than 2 years now. Although I don't use it actively in terms of daily basis, the screw-on design in terms of its cables has never given me any problems at all, neither have I seen any complaints abt it online via Head-fi or any japanese audio communities. Like what Joe said, it's really just a case of well-implemented hardware that's all.

A case of "Penny wise, Pound foolish".

Companies that cut corners on all the wrong areas either,
1. don't know their products well enough
2. don't know their customers well enough

And am sure JHA is neither of the above.

something tells me the bugger probably misaligned the screw cap and twist it too hard in trying to tighten the misaligned connection...

my assumption though... shitz does happen.. :s22::s22:

Well you can have the best product but if your customer is not wise enough, **** still happen.

Let's wait for more reviews to see if this are isolated cases or truly bad design/execution.

broken nut seemingly more and more frequently. quite shocking when you're paying 2k for it.

I believe it's cable manufacture issue... Maybe the but too thin or brittle...

I paid 1.9k for it... But still heart pain..

JH Audio posted a reply this morning on their Facebook acknowledging the cases where the cable break off. They said those with issues to contact them for rectification. Now that's what I call proactive good service.

That is surely manufacturing defect or screw-up design...
Wondering whether the transparent cable (if they already have in stock) also having the same problem
