I tried the universal demos and they protrude way too much out of the ears, felt odd after awhile.
Jerry told me the final units were going to be considerably smaller, apparently that wasn't the case.. :(

i ve got my refit back for a while now and it fits perfectly. burning in the earphones now.

In other thread, some demo the rox and didnt like the sound signature. i didnt like the demo set but loves my custom. The sound signature seems different from the demo. Any users share the same sentiment? still working on the 100th hrs.

I didn't demo but from most impressions on the demo floating around majority agree that rox really suck. But those who bit the bullet and got the custom says it's the best ciem currently.

In the other thread they swear their iems are the best ever but you can also see many comments around who don't agree.

Every brand got their own fan boys and haters. But one things for sure all TOTL ciems are good in their own respect you just gotta find one that suits your needs.

Actually...how come so much difference between universal and custom? Rightfully, only better fit hence better seal...bro you have both right? How do you find the differences btn them?

when u send in for refit and how long did it take?

still waiting for mine....

the demo are universal so the seal might not be as good as your customs.
need a proper seal to have the bass.

for me, tried universals at mook and JH was explaining on the bass knobs.

the universals with the tips do not have a good seal compared to the customs and "leakage" is there when u move around. maybe thats why??

agree with mhvp, each person ears are slightly different and what I hear might be different (although slightly??) from others.

I only have the customs version. One contributing factor as to why they sound so different are the difference in tips. Silicon, foam, hybrid tips all alter the sound differently. Most demos use silicon while the real product uses acrylic so there's no way a demo can sound exactly the same as the customs but that's the closest and best that the iem makers can do.

And of course the other biggest factor is fit since good fit bad fit all fits differently for each individual.

JH16 demo sounded a little different compared to the customes. Roxanne also same thing.

Ok...i never demo Roxane. I am afraid...i like it and hence had to bear with the long leadtime and less then ideal workmanship. =:p

With the Mentor on hand, think i can now safely go for a demo and see how it compare with Mentor. Have a feeling this 2 are pretty close...

They're pretty different... Imo I prefer the mentor but that's that's coming from an er4s user haha
