Up to you..Jiufen is rather quiet at night...Nothing much except a few cafes but rather a good atmosphere also..

I did a day trip the other time... at night there nothing much.. IMO not worth staying overnight...

I will stay there for the serenity.
If you wake up early enough, can go climb the 茶壶山， and catch the sunrise.
Not nothing to do, it's more like many things to do, but not safe to do it alone.
