strongly recommend to secure new job 1st, disregarding income, if you even remotely get a sense of identity from work and professional network
at most quiet quit at work
i last time saw my manager force retire due to age, 62 y/o, still fit and "young". i see his eyes like damn sad and lost, 1st few months still come back and hang around
not really regret cos leaving is the absolute correct choice, but do think about it cos of the ppl i left. but they're also the reason i overstayed and missed on opportunities last year.
pros
1. have time to actually look for opportunities, clarity to talk to ppl, identify own weakness
2. gain knowledge of current market, culture, processes, how things are done, etc. get to practice interviewing. serious now is very very different from 2020, or even 2024.
(that's why got those youtube job channel say every 2 years go for interview even if you're not job hunting)
3. can do what matters to you, exercise, see world, cook, spend time with family, learn stuff, read, brush up your skills and knowledge, etc
4. see the ppl you train shine in your absence got sense of achievement
5. no need deal with terrible management
cons
1. uncertainty
2. expectation/skills/job/capabilities mismatch. feels unwanted
3. loss of professional network, connection and really good ppl
