Luckily I take my Vega chocolate flavoured pea protein (with creatine) not at full doses and not daily basis. Chocolate + Pea seems to have much higher risk. I still got a new tub not opened yet. Haiz! After this tub I might stop buying, or at least convert to non flavoured whey protein instead.
If based on FDA 8.8ug per day limit or EU 12ug/day. it should mostly pass. And remember, even this "high" limit is 1/10th the level of observable symptoms.
Take for eg the California Gold nutrition whey protein
dark choc, only 0.0103ppm per serving and that's
0.0103 µg for 25g of whey. Way less than many other whole foods that we have in our lives.
But of coz, for mass gainers, you are hooting like 300g per day, so........ if they are also higher in lead then yeah.
Check out clams, actually even for others like mussels, oysters. Some seafood, fishes, shrimps etc. You'd be surprised at their levels. many of them fail even for a small portion. Sweet potatoes, potatoes.
I posted 2 local SFA advisories also, it's not an unknown thing. Bigger issue than whey.
The surprise is really fruit juices (packeted or bottled) that i posted last night. Big names like Welch's grape juices that we can get here as well. Adults ok, maybe dont drink too much, but kids would drink, and at much higher/bigger serving sizes than a 25-30g scoop of whey. And kids are more susceptible as they growing neurologically, hence the much lower FDA limit (2.2ug per day i believe for kids).
And if you are going for california prop 65 0.5ug/day then good luck.
California prop 65 labelling has crazy standards for many other stuff, ranging from air to water pollution to microplastics, other than food. Many times it is an idealistic level, it's something like asking you to cycle at 8kmh so that you ideally do not hurt yourself.
