Posted 2 years ago actually, repeating it now.
Issue is that humans have a tendency of normalcy bias, wont take action/precautions until it has finally happened.

BTW if you are running in areas near agricultural areas or where there are stray dogs where there could be prescence of their droppings (some parts of RC), best to get your DTAP combo shot as a booster. The highest chance is found on harder surfaces like asphalt/concrete and not the soil actually, for some reason.

Issue is of their spores, which are extremely hardy and can stay on surfaces for very long withstanding rain and, heat and UV for long and can be spread a bit farther by the wind.

Not ex, only like $70 only.

Cyclists highest risk grp, esp if often visiting neo tiew/LCK and higher risk of falling.
Just on last Sat we had 1 case and i urged her either yesterday or today best to go shoot, no matter how non-optimal that is.

Edit -just googled, of coz it is not rabies or prions and CJD, but wow, seems like fatality rate is still ~10% in developed countries with modern medical care, and 50-100% in less developed areas.

Worst part to get hurt is anywhere near the kneecap area. Coz that part is repeatedly stretched and relaxed as you walk and go about your normal activities, and also the highest chance to get bumped into during your normal activities.

And then the partially healed area gets opened again and oozes zhup. Mine took like 9 months to fully heal, the wound did re-open and ooze zhup 2X.

Finally, a pretty decent proper test.

Normal lap vs lap with actively cooled with cooling strategies (pre-run ice pops + normal water dousing, not even iced water)
Somemore done at 25 deg C and lower RH% which is pretty low for our standards.....which they call hot weather.
Our 25 deg C is more like at 95% RH liao, ie right after a Sumatra squall or something.

Plus some scientific references inside.

Interesting. Really have such things.

5k potentially deduct > 15 seconds off for this (in sub-20 territory, above eg 32 mins for 260W cycling not full gas effort is well in advanced "sportive recreational" rider territory) and just some room temperature water (you can upgrade to iced water + towel to soak up). I'd say just for $60 that you can use over and over again for a few good years, it is a good deal, much better deal than shoes actually.
Heck - so many already willing to throw a few thousand dollars going to overseas race with good weather - for that only 1 single shot at PB and if that day is a bad day ie your stomach no good and/or sleep previous few nights screwed up coz stress, gg already. Few thousand bucks 1 single shot going for 1 shot 1 kill.

But cant bring to 5k parkruns or 10k races i guess. Many "normal" people will laugh and say keesiao. But i think for own TT is good.

So depends on your own mentality.
Of coz it is not going to change you from a 22min 5k runner into a 20min 5k runner even here in hot Singapore with high heat index temps, no way.
But when you are already more or less plateaued and can only fit that much training that much recovery that much discipline in nutrition for diet and supplementation and that much acceptance to good coaching advice you receive, every other last single bit helps.

Have 2 versions. 1 is older type, one is new design. Both used by pro teams.

edit - already carted out the cheaper version. At least less messy than pouring iced water during warm up (and potentially dripping onto the quads, calves and glutes) and cooling the important leg muscles.
Esp for me since i am already used to using active cooling tricks.
Also good for TTs on WCH.

Final push for this mommy.

Interestingly, she does not consider parkruns to be official. (she already did 15:58)

Cool idea but the weight is 1.6kg to 2kg+.

After getting used to the additional weight, sure can go faster.

Yeah......possible if you wanna do it that way but just do my method ba, set up own mini table or put on a park surface and use iced slushies via cups and pour per lap. Setup must minimally not affect the timing much. Eg, if this were to be on the track and even if you set up on the outermost track and calculate distance accordingly, unless if you can set it up really realy close to lane 8 where it is least busy, it might not be optimal then.

But technically is just to wear the cooling vest and enjoy the benefits while warming up. But overall core would still be kept cool while the associated intended muscles are warmed up hence having that "cool buffer" when you start, after which you remove of course.

Then during TT, then see how you set things up for constant pouring with iced water while wearing towel to soak any cool bits. A bit tricky @ stadium track lane 1 but if more private running route of 400-800m lengths where you dont even need to bring your own mini table coz so many surfaces around that you could use, it shd be possible, eg at my place's garden levels or activesg tracks or etc etc. Just bring your own small cups / insulated container with iced slushie.

For TT stages in cycling, that's usually 20-30 mins duration so i guess for running 3k-5k ought to be rather effective, maybe with special mention to 10k as well....which suits me to the tee. And this year was rather warm also at TDF.

In 2023, they were still using rather archiac water iced vests. Some research suggests a bit of inconsistency overall (not like the above somewhat broscience measurements by GCN) but at least got some common points.
