I have stopped my hifi spending few years back as the room is the limiting factor. New retirement house I choose the easier layman path by going for sonos instead. No way can get the special sound but can enjoy music easily for everyone in family just using handphone app.

Now spending money on more affordable Chinese running shoes and running wears.
Why not get headphones ah? More accurate and detailed also 10x cheaper.

Topless running is cheapest, lol. Not using the finisher tees you have collected over the years?
Used to wear those event singlets, but since discovered China branded one are not expensive and they are more breathable so went for it. Also light weight, around 25 gram to 60 gram.

Completely different feel. With stereo setup you feel the performers in front of you giving a live performance.

With headphone it’s like the sound inside your head and around you. Also my earlobes get warm and red quick with headphones. Headphone setup can get very expensive also.

Agree. I think some open back headphones can mimick but usually speakers are the most life like

Just quickly glance thru the video, and notice something interesting, his LT1 and LT2 has a narrow band. If using a 5 zones system, his zone 3 band is narrow. Breaking the intensities zones as a percentages of maxHR is really very generic. Because this LT1 and LT2 will change as we progress, and both LT points do not progress in tandem, it depends on that type of training we are focusing on, that's why I feel these percentages of MaxHR into zones is as accurate as the 220-age for Max Hr. very generic and usually not accurate.

The other interesting is the pricking is at the ear. I always thought it from the finger coz always go polyclinic, if they need a small sample, it is usually from the finger. I had never been to a sport lab, so don't know such things. I wonder how does the Norwegian does it in the field training?
Seems like either finger tip or ear lobe can work out, just that maybe the lab prefer the ear lobe method :ROFLMAO:

He is currently at 88%, while the pros are at 93%.

Metabolic/mechanical efficiency seems to matter a lot after watching the video. Could be attributed to running economy. Found this comment on running economy:

"Runner A and runner B have the exact identical VO2Max. We have them both run on a treadmill for 3 minutes at 5:00 pace. Runner A scored a Vo2 5 points lower than Runner B. Runner A therefore has a better running economy.

A lot can go into running economy. Form. Neuromuscular changes. Contractile properties of the working muscles. More miles over a lifetime improve running economy....ie: perfecting the "skill". Hills and sprints improve running economy....improving the mechanics. Strength training improves running economy....improving contractile properties. Also, running economy is very specific to the speed (neuromuscular coordination). Example: One of the reasons Runner A in the above example has better economy could be that he does a lot of interval training at 5:00 pace (pace used for the above example test) compared to Runner B."

Thanks for the great breakdown. Think I will start conservatively tmr then progress faster towards the end.
Can try 10k > 5k pace, helps a lot with more sets of intervals. First 5 @ 10k, last 5 @ 5k. Worked for me when I did 9 x 1km (first 5 @ 10k, last 5 @ 5k).

The easiest way to improve running economy is volume running. Your muscle skeletal system adaptation are tune to your running style. That is why easy runs where you accumulate the most volumes are sometime known as economy runs in some training program.

Can be quite lonely running long distance alone, so I try to make the time useful by listening to an ebook or language podcast.

Running on a scenic route helps a lot also, I avoid route that is mostly straight and only HDB.
