Good point of reference
If serious amateur cyclist, high chance dismount and walk with bike liao
Probably not so far away from say Fourth avenue or Mt Faber Kg Bahru side.

U damn good, 22 dips at once is very tough. So far I tried 4 x 10 still manageable. I suspect I will get injured exceeding 15 at once. .

Must really take notice of recovery.
If cannot afford the proper and solid recovery (eg sleep, supplements, diet) then yeah best not to start such things. Over time these little things can build up and end up injured etc.

Easy Z2 ride at 300W :unsure:

I'd pay 5k SGD to get to that level. 🤣 Forget about simi superbike.

BTW the fella videoing also fooking fit zai.

athletes like pogi are superfit unlike me, altho not bbfa, my runs hardly go beyond 300W unless i pia last stretch.

ps: finally no need vpn to surf edmw! 😂

overtaking pogi on TT is one thing, overtaking pogi on slope is wow!, overtaking pogi on slope with pebblestones is WOW WOW WOW!

His last part analogy very funny. U write your own name thousand times but u won't improve your language ability.

I think normal old folks like us should do volume rather than overload. To play safe. Where got waste time if we not looking to have the body of Arnold?

If only run 3km, first km just fast walk, then slow jog all the way. If u feel panting quite hard then walk. You are young and your run distance is short, I don't see much problem unless u have underlying ailment(s). If your main goal is to run faster, then be patient and train with volume (ie run more) first. P/s: volume = frequency x distance.
Seem like i need to run more i want train endurance and keep healthy speed wise for me is not that impt.

Maybe i should train go gym and train my calves as i notice if i jog slow my calves will feel sore.

Additional strength training can supplement/complement but is not compulsory. If over trained also got another set of problem.

For good health, u don't just happily load until 10km or 21km without considering other health aspects. Take me for example, I know my high LDL is caused by stress. So I restrict myself not to run more than 1 hour per session so that my cortisol is maintained. Post workout will take carbs or energy drinks to suppress my high cortisol. Also if not enough sleep, I rather forgo the run or will run not more than 5km at zone 2 or 3 only.

Hence higher endurance may not equate good health.

Got pros and cons, as i mentioned before. The concepts are sound in certain aspects, see how individuals can absorb/recover also. You can actually do 1 set of very high volumes but lighter in resistance, but make sure you can hit failure. However, this is different from doing many multiple sets of high volume in total, but not hitting failure.

One issue with very high volumes is that it's difficult to gauge what is the exact failure limit unless you are very in tune with your body. For eg, the last time i hooted normal push ups with no incline it was around 65 , and even then it was more of the lactate burn and making me jelly rather than total muscular overload failure. But of coz for dips (also a push exercise), it is more difficult and you really know when you can hit failure. But if just train several sets of 40 - 50 of push ups, but to a certain limit there is a point of really diminishing returns. But of coz it still has a strength training component to it......better than very light training in which people just go thru training with 10 sets of 20 for eg.

That's why also in running, some people plateau and cannot go below 20 min for 5k ......despite doing pretty high/slow volume every day run kind of people. But of coz not everyone wants to attain a sub-20 which is fine.

Also, some exercises like squats/deadlights not really for normal pax who are not paying attn to form, esp if going for continual progressive overload and going up in weights. But they still would provide some benefits to health and other sports if done at light weights and high total volume.

Found the vid.

Keyword = MUST reach failure

Heavy = 3-6 reps
Light = 15-30

Results : Not very much statistically different between both sides for the 2 fellas

This is for growth only.

For me, i have just started for past few weeks with resistance bands and the exercises to do 1 warm up and 1 working set, so far is got improvement in reps. Still playing around and so far so good, can better fit the schedule and still feel good etc.

I was also watching this just mins ago.

Here’s a summary of Jeremy Ethier’s video “I Trained One Side HEAVY vs LIGHT For 60 Days (Bad Idea)” + the main take-home points:

---

What He Did

He trained one side of his body using heavy weights (low reps) vs. the other side using lighter weights (higher reps) over a 60-day period.

The idea was to compare strength, muscle growth, and overall difference between the two styles when volume (total sets) is kept constant.

---

What He Found

There was a difference, but it was not huge — heavy side had a small advantage in strength gains; light side still got growth.

The growth (muscle hypertrophy) was fairly similar between both sides, as long as total work/volume was matched.

Light-high rep training side had more fatigue, soreness, possibly more metabolic stress. Heavy-low rep side was more demanding on nervous system and joints.

---

Final Key Points / Takeaways

1. You can build muscle with both light & heavy loads, as long as volume is adequate. The difference isn’t huge in hypertrophy if you keep total work similar.

2. Heavy weights (low reps) are better when it comes to strength gains, neural adaptation.

3. Light weights (higher reps) produce more metabolic stress, possibly more fatigue and soreness—but still valid for muscle growth.

4. Doing one style exclusively has trade-offs; mixing both heavy and light might give more balanced results.

5. “Bad Idea” in the title refers to the risk of imbalance, injury, or overemphasis on one style. It’s probably not optimal long-term to train one side heavy and the other light—better to use a variety.

Yeah....forgot about this.

Coz for longevity i am also aiming for strength and power gains, plus slowing down the motor units / more fast twitch from RIP.
The strength gains and peak strength in a sprint or surges helps my sports also.

But still, much higher reps would also have the same benefits lah......but possibly at lower levels nia.

ps. Creatine really helps also in the training.
