I find the u-turn around the 20k mark from Bayfront Ave to MBS a bit weird. I run around here quite often, iirc there only got stairs before reaching the path towards art science museum
Screenshot-2026-04-12-101606.png

I did 4 x 200m (200m jog recovery) just to prepare for the race next weekend.

38, 38, 39 (210), 40 (210) [3.00 - 3.10 min/km]

Expecting the last 400m stretch to be 3.4x pace (<=90s 400m) after getting down helix bridge.
you must have a cape on because looks like you are flying! amazing pace! good job
It's a lot of hard work that goes behind the scenes, I think I wouldn't be able to achieve these times if I was not putting in the mileage. But huge respect to you for running 80-90km weeks.

Screenshot-2026-04-12-102405.png

It took me about 7.5 hours to run 83km in a week. It doesn't include strengthening workouts, plyometrics and stretching.

Is asics superblast lasting ? It’s like one of the most expensive non plated shoe
I owned superblast 1. Despite the condition of the midsole still look physically very good, It lost the pop of the energy return after 700km.

For a guy. I am considered a light runner . 1.68m 55kg only.

I watched Ben park review on superblast 3. It mentioned the durability is not as good as superblast 2 after he ran after 250km. Probably at most to 500 -600km. Some runner claimed that SB 2 can go as high as 1000km

For now. U only can get SB2 with discount or the current SB3. I will go for SB3 since it is newer .

I owned megablast. It is slightly more expensive than superblast , already ran around 300km on it. The energy response is still the same as day 1 .

Huawei GT Runner 2 release on 14 April
RRP $399 - $20 seller voucher - shopee voucher(if any) = ~$350 probably. From online reviews, doesnt seem to be anything out of the ordinary like whole lot of other fitness watches available in the market. Supposedly "co-developed" with Kipchoge but more likely just using his name as a selling point.

Huawei wrist based HR monitor are one of the best.
Give it some time, prices may drop.

SRY gor gor say all wrist based HR measurements are highly inaccurate and useless lol. Surprisingly, our local rrp is quite ok compared to US/EU and even CN prices. Saw this watch going for 2K+ rmb on chinese platforms.

Ya, Huawei watches prices in Singapore can drop a lot that's why making them good entry watches. Coupled with a good high performance hr monitor and decent gps, a low $200 is not impossible. I believe @WussRedXLi got his version 1 under $200.

liquid gel got no bite leh...do you guys bring food during the long run. brownies? lol

Yeah no bite for liquid nutrition, i am talk about carb mix in water bottles (some runners carry their own liquid nutrition). Bo bian, just take the regular gels / food like bananas and hope for the best.
Bananas are generally ok.

BTW, take the more ripe (or even very ripe) bananas, that type is low fibre as well so wont sit in your intestines during digestion. The energy boost would only take 30 mins at most.
The pretty unripe ones, esp the one which feels not sweet and very starchy, can give GI upset with lots of gas. I just kena on Friday. 🤣 Coz that kind of starchy carb resists digestion one.
If you are taking this from the on-course marathon aid station, then you are solely at their mercy to provide suitably ripened bananas.

Bananas are also a very high source of potassium. So if you had a salty breakfast (instant noodles?) which is high sodium, your electrolytes are all set already.

How to test? Before your 25km zone 2 run, take 2-3 bananas. During the run, hoot another 2-3 bananas. If gut no issue, you are basically set. If higher than zone 2, then the risk of GI upset rises.....so you can also test with a 10k threshold sesh.

For me and my kid, we also take (for fun) chocolates like kit kat, snickers, but that's for fun and lower in qty coz the sessions are long (6-7hrs). We also take oreo, potato chips, bread etc. Gummy bears. Other than the ubiquitous banana.

But note, stuff like choc is higher fat content, which isnt terribly useful in a race scenario.

But these "real" food is useful in ultra distances scenarios, for cycling and running or maybe for some ultra walking (walk 50km). For boosting morale. Esp those lasting very long to 12hrs or even longer.
I see quite a fair number of ultra runners here in Asia take instant noodles one, i think for the sodium content and also yumminess and hot steaming as morale booster.

Also, in zone 1 and sometimes zone 2, the risk of GI upset is very low.

You can also consider a mix of gels and food/snacks.

I'm looking for a 10km and half marathon to slot between 2XU (just over) and Singapore Marathon.

I am likely joining Pocari Run just to push a friend to finish 10K (for me is easy run).

Staring at Garmin Run for the 21km, is it too close to Singapore Marathon to try to run it all out?

I use SiS Isotonic Orange and SiS Beta Orange

I know ppl prefer Maruten, or make their own (or use other stuff), but personally I just buy the above cause I have no issues and it is easily available

Reached at about 3:30pm. Only 1 person ahead. Only one bib and 4 pins. Minimal waste.

Got a free towel, the person that was distributing the towel left at 6.40pm, was going back on train at the same time. Very dedicated 😅

Dont think u r doomed with 6 weeks left. I think as long u got a long run of 32 to 35km 2 to 3 weeks before actual race day should be ok. This was what I observed from some of sub 4 marathon runners that I followed on their Strava . ( Their 30km timing on the long run before FM were around 2hr:50mins)

Although I rarely joined running race but sometime I also run on my own 21km HM and I did not consume any gel or drink too.
I have similar physique as you (173cm, 58kg), my calorie burn from my 28km long run was 1545 calories. I did one of my recent 26km marathon pace run with 1 energy gel, I burnt 1484 calories for that run.

I not sure why he kept saying this wrist based HR measure "highly inaccurate", maybe to stir some conversation or controversial.
It's inaccurate as sometime wrist based prone to cadence lock. It's troublesome but it happens ocasionally, depending on scenario.

maybe to a pro runner who has access to proper hr measurement it is inaccurate but to us everyday normal runners, not really relevant

Well watch HR is not as good for intervals or frequent intensity changes as it doesn't catch up as fast for HR changes

There is likely to be Race for Good, HM at Punggol last year. Zephyr-Anatole, HM at West Coast Park.

Those races are likely before Garmin run. No clue if there are other HM during that time period.

From my past experience with Pocari Run in 2024, had a good experience though it was in the afternoon at Bedok Reservoir
first time running a full marathon. need to buck up next few weeks. getting cold feet lol
Aim for completion as your goal, if you ran within your goal time, then that’s a bonus
