It is a win for johor if they join Singapore. Probably a win for Singapore govt also. Solve so many problems at one go lol
It'll take the better part of 10-20 years for things to stabilize assuming no undesirable events tale place... e.g War, or Indonesia making a move.

compring apples to oranges..

MY sultans still think they are the defacto rulers with private arm.y
Johor Sultan is the most progressive of all of them, and could potentially be persuaded to take up a more passive, institutional role in the new country. The potential upsides for the Johor royals are huge in the long run. The objective ultimately is co-prosperity.

Can scrap off NS. Cause we got the support of johor. Can even solve healthcare cost issues. Jhk will come to work in Singapore.
No. NS is more important than ever since there is now a long land border and many more miles of coastline.

The risk of war will be at its highest point right after the merger, when regional forces are evaluating what to make of the new country.

u are expert in gerry mander....

how is ethnic integration policy going to be implemented??????
There is limited supply of HDB in SG.
Not every jhk can buy a flat here.
Even if HDB policy were to extend to JB, it should not be the same as SG.

As if johor can survive on its own
They can actually, as long as no shooting war starts. Ultimately merging with Singapore would probably be the best outcome though as it solves huge problems for both countries.

Honestly, the current structure is very unsustainable.

Singapore so developed, in fact already maxed out the land area. Furthermore, got the influx of foreigners diluting our local culture.

Johor so much land, but still relatively undeveloped.

I believe the Singapore government, the Johor government, and the Malaysia federal government are already discussing about this behind closed doors.

The reason why they mention this in the media right now, is probably to gather the public opinion in Singapore, Johor and the rest of Malaysia.

Once again, the current structure is very unsustainable.

I am in favour of the Malaysia federal government annexing Johor to operate as a special administrative region for a period of time, and during this period of time, Johor will use the Singapore currency.

What will Singapore stand to gain? Well, Singaporeans, to be more precise, although Singapore currency will definitely devalue once its supply and demand expands geographically to include Johor, Singaporeans can move into Johor and spend in Singapore currency, while enjoying higher quality housing, and probably the same kind of education and employment opportunities. Think about it as living in Forest City, but at other parts of Johor. 😎

An Astrologer has said that in March 2023, a revolution right before us will occur. Also, I have been saying that Malaysia will arrive at its sixtieth year anniversary in 2023, which is when the astrological alignments (thus the kind of energy) will be the same as in 1963 when Malaysia was first established.

Basically, the sixtieth year anniversary of every country, will be the year when the country will re-evaluate itself and decide on its future direction.

I personally think that considering the current structure of Singapore and Malaysia is very unsustainable, Johor becoming a special administrative region of Malaysia and using the Singapore currency, or something along that line, may actually happen, which will help to address the various issues that we are currently facing in Singapore and Malaysia at the moment.

Singapore island would see real estate go through the roof.

The middle class would have opportunities to own land in Johor for much less. I daresay the issue of poorly managed ghost towns would eventually be fixed with new government driven initiatives.

It is clear that Johor needs SG so much more than SG needs Johor. One is just a state while the other is sovereign. Johor should just give up their name and be absorbed into Singapore, while Singapore can offer the ceremonial presidential seat to the sultan. Furthermore still can block some ppl from the presidential election forever too.

Classic win-win.

So long they gotch security guarentee from ASEAN/UN until they formed their own armed forces they probably could.
But the federal won't allow it.:o

And SG cannot merge with them without crazy consequences.:o

No win.:o
JHK lose their 3:1.
Sinkies will suddenly see their housing price deflate at least 50-75% because land price deflate, and only location matters then.
Chiu will suddenly see JB ppl all super rich and sinkies all poor as F*, and still need to service inflated housing loan while losing $$$.:o
Then religion issues, they muslim state, SG ish secular.
Racial ratio also overnight changed, either side might not accept it. Basically racial ratio will be rike Johor except malay and chinese population proportion switch place.
Then politically also problematic. How to deal with the sultan? Become permanent head of state with sultan power? Or become constitutional or become federal rike again...
Then their ppl will rike want their bumi policies to stay.
Then MY federal will be super angwee with sinkieland...

Sho impossible.:o
