KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — His Majesty the Head of State, Sultan Ibrahim, has instructed the government to launch a comprehensive anti-bullying campaign to curb bullying from the primary school level. He fears that if left unchecked, a generation that lacks respect and love will be nurtured.
In a post on his Facebook page today, His Majesty alleged that bullying not only damages the psychology and emotions of victims, but can also lead to various tragedies.
"Children must be educated from an early age, and through this (anti-bullying) campaign, they can be guided to understand the importance of respect and discipline for each other."
He emphasized that the enactment of the Criminal Code (Amendment) Decree 2025 and the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Decree 2025 also demonstrates the government's determination to crack down on bullying.
Fahmi (3rd from left) reports to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on the Ministry of Communications' existing measures to deal with bullying.
His Majesty further pointed out that curbing the culture of bullying requires cross-departmental and cross-agency collaboration to ensure a comprehensive response to this crime.
Earlier, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim met with Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi at the National Palace, where Fahmi presented the Ministry of Communications' commitment to tackle bullying and the actions being taken now.
He also reported to His Majesty on the preparations and implementation of the 2025 National Day celebrations.
