actually, all travel agency in singapore sell JR Pass.
they are getting a 10% discount from the wholesaler.

unless you buy tour/ticket from the agency, if they wont sell you just the "JR Pass" cos the profit margin "10%" is miserable.

Go direct to the wholesaler. JTB, Diners, etc
If im not mistaken, you can also buy direct from japan website.

not exactly same price because of in-house forex rates used to convert JPY to SGD...
but not exactly alot of difference unless you are buying alot of passes. JTB 5% discount is good.

You can buy the JR pass at Narita airport. Just need to show your passport.
No need to book or order or go through middlemen.

The 5% discount is until END of March, not 1 March. I just called up to ask, so no need to rush down to buy.

I bought mine in Japan at Narita. The JR East pass, if that makes a difference.

If you are unaware, there are several type Rail Passes available in Japan.

The Nation Wide JR Japan Rail Pass CANNOT be bought inside Japan. You need to purchase an Exchange Order outside Japan and exchange it for the "Nation Wide JR Japan Rail Pass" once you arrive in Japan.

The JR East Pass you mention CAN be bought either inside or outside Japan.

The "JR East Pass" only covers unlimited travel on trains which includes shinkansen (except Tokaido Shinkansen), limited express trains and local trains operated by JR East (Kanto, Koshinetsu and Tohoku regions) only. Whereas the Nation Wide JR Japan Rail Pass covers unlimited travel on almost all JR trains nationwide, including bullet trains, limited express trains, local trains, some JR buses and the JR ferry to Miyajima.

More info can be found here.

just called as well. depending on the yen exchange rate, sometime this month will go down and get it at Takashimaya.
