Hi all,

Got the following information:

- called JTB, they told me that JR Rail has send them emails that no one is allowed to sell their tickets at discount rate
- HIS Travel $435
- Prime $444
- Diners World $425NETT (used CC >$800 and get lucky draw - got x2 GV vouchers)
- NTA $422

So the cheapest is from NTA.
But subjective to forex exchange rate.

Good day to all!

If you are really looking for cheaper tickets, call various smaller travel agents, they might just offer you a discount. Oakleys is another brand that do not allow agents to give discounts, yet there shops that are willing to give discounts.

yah
agree
since 10% discount is given to some agent, they can just earn less to attract customer also.

I have do it the other way round, i.e. from Sapporo to Ueno (Tokyo) by JR Hokutosei :D. Yes, you need to book the tickets in advance, cos it's quite popular among the Japanese and it's possible for the tickets to sold out as there is only 1 Hokutosei train that leaves Sapporo to Ueno (or vice versa) per day.

Hi guys,
japan noob here heading to tokyo in mid june.

I only have 7 full days on the ground and i want it to be a leisurely trip so maybe only going hakone and ? osaka/kyoto.

Is JR pass a must in that case?

if u are gg to osaka/kyoto, then it is worth it to get the jr pass.

coz the 7 days jr pass cost 28300 yen, and shinkansen from tokyo to shin-osaka cost 13750 yen one way. so the trip to and from tokyo and osaka already almost the price of the jr pass liao

i assume you meant relax and take it easy when u say "leisurely" as opposed to touch and go
then in this case, won't advise you to go osaka/kyoto
7 days seems just nice to take your time to explore tokyo + hakone
