besides JNTO office is there any place to buy a JR pass cheap? Now with the current exchange rate it is very expensive. I saw some online places selling around S$383 but don't know how reliable they are.

i dun remember JNTO selling JR passes

anyway, the yen price of JR pass is fixed at 29110yen for the 7-day pass. the only difference is the exchange rate that the shop uses, which may vary a little.

normally how long does it take to get the pass?
can you just walk in and apply and get the exchange paper right away?

just buy the ***** pass in yen.
takes less than 5mins.
walk in, pay, wait for the staff to fill up the exchange form.
done.

no need to call/reserve in advance, no need to leave and return another day, all that ********.

Follow Me Japan in Hong Leong building sells Jr passes in yen. got another agency in the same building selling as well, forgot name tho.

I bought JR pass recently. $384 collected at changi. Need to buy 1-2 days before flight. Can collect at 2-3 AM. Cannot buy on the day of flight. Easier to buy in advance.

thank you, i am thinking of getting it 1 week before flying, i think there's no problem? What do they need? Just your passport? This price is for the 7 day pass right? Did you get the pass itself or an exchange form?

You get the voucher here, you use the voucher to get a pass that they will write your name onto

You show the pass to the station master and you do not use the electronic gate
