actually what i meant is departing tokyo to osaka via plane and coming back to tokyo by shinkansen (this would be more relaxing pace since i do not intend to cramp my itinerary). perhaps i was being too ambitious using this method and after a thorough calculation, it's more justifiable to take up a JR pass. oh well, i just have to wake up early to catch the train![]()
Isn't it the same if your flight is early? You have to travel to airport (Haneda and Narita are further away from the Shinkansen stations in Tokyo).
Anyway, there are quite a lot of Shinkansen trains daily. You can have more flexibility here. Just remember that you cannot take Nozomi Shinkansen on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line with JR pass.
