Haha.. high floor should solve that problem right? And I think the view could be even better as you are not facing the waterway from a perpendicular pt of view

For my wife and I, no requirement at all.. we are happy to have a good house in a good location

any one has any opinions on whether or not to get the OCS? Cheaper to get the reno and doors done ourselves?

I heard the OCS tiles which is priced at $5,000 is not that cheap. And you can buy your own tiles and pass them to the contractor during renovation. This will further reduce your renovation costs. As for the doors, we didnt't like the HDB provided colors. So in the end I didn't select both.

Sounds like a plan! And please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to pour cold water in any way. Am waiting to select my flat, and trying to put the various considerations into place.

No worries. You have a good point and I realized the eatery was next door. Judging from the shape and size of it, I supposed it will be indoors and many of the newer eateries.

on a side note, can any one advise on this piece? I've recently left my job, and am in the midst of looking for another one. My last pay slip is in Aug. How will this affect the loan from hdb? Also, i understand i have to declare and sign a statutory declaration of the status. What's the impact on this?

It will not impact whether they will approve your HDB loan. However, it may affect the maximum amount of money they are willing to loan you. You will also not be able to apply for the additional housing grant (AHG) unless you have at least 12 months of continuous work, eg July 11 to Aug 12.

Yup. 8 dropped out of the first 11 numbers. Dont know why though. But from no. 25-32, there was full selection.

What if there was a one month break in between due to change of job? Ie. Jul 11- Nov 11 in Job 1, then Jan 12 - Aug 12 in Job 2. Will we still be eligible for AHG?

I read many posts saying that sound travels upwards but I still cannot understand why the higher floors will get worse noise problem.

Is it a fact that lower floors like 2nd to 5th floors will experience less noise than maybe 10th to 15th floor??

Doesn't really make sense to me.

Don't think there is continuous selection for this project. They seem to be cramming in 6 to 8 people per day on those selection days.

My number is 63x which is all the way till mid-nov. Then again, mine's out of range so chances are probably crap.

That's what I read about the tiles as well, and additionally for that price one might be able to get homogeneous tiles which are apparently more durable and all. Downside is that you'll be paying for the price in 4 years.

I've got that 12 months of continuous work prior to august, so that part is not a problem for me. Assuming that they grant, say.. 200k now, and i get a job next month (which is likely), do you know if i will be abler to get a re-evaluation on this? Matter of bad timing for me imo.

Hi RedShoe, this part is quite true if you're living next to a major road - and this is due to the nature of sound as a wave. Anecdotal evidence from where I live next to the CTE suggests that the higher floors have got it louder than I do on the 3rd floor.

yes i guess so.

i have a colleague who lives near the east coast/aye and stay at lvl 4 not noisy - v cosy n windy because near her balcony is the swimming pool and trees.

while those stay above her hear noise frm the aye...

I have stayed at both high and low levels.

Higher level, you will get more constant noise but at a lower decibel as noise can get to you from multiple directions but the strength decrease over distance.

Lower level, you will get intermittent noise but at higher decibel because other buildings/trees block out noises from other places so what you heard is mainly noise very near to you (which will be louder).

You do know that this HLE is not the final one right? We will need to apply for another HLE before taking the keys. Yes, there will be another round of re-evaluation so don't worry too much.
