Kaplan Murdoch or SIM UOL

Hi,

I wish to take a major in both management and IT systems. So far, the closest I see is Bachelor of Science in Cyber Forensics, Information Security and Management and Computer Science (Double Major) which isn't very close. I've seen that SIM UOL offers Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Systems and Management. So I have this few questions.

1. Honours or double major better? It seems like Honours is a more in-depth study. To be honest, I just wish to know which gives better job opportunity.

2. How are the courses stated? Anyone have experience on them?

3. Is there anything you can suggest that have both management and IT? And is it any good?

Career prospect... Diploma can only go so far these days...

Hi,

Do not just look at the name. Look at the modules and find out what you're doing to learn. It's going to be more beneficial if you can apply what you learn rather than having a nice piece of paper with no value.

I have no experience in IT so I am in no position to comment on the degrees. Sorry!

Edit: To answer your question, honours helps you to gain entrance to post-graduate programmes. Masters courses often require an honours degree as entry requirement or at least one year working experience in lieu of honours. However, do note that there are already many distance learning programmes that offer direct honours, thereby diminishing the value of honours.

Murdoch University do offer honours but not for its distance learning programme in Singapore. You can actually go over to their Perth campus and complete the honours for an additional year if you do well for your degree. - Source: Murdoch University

A double major allows you to expand your skill set and pick up another discipline. If you're purely looking at paper qualifications, honours is better. If you want to improve yourself, try double majors.
