Hi there, I'm a current student with Northumbria University offering at Kaplan.
I'm from the second batch of this Uni taking Logistics and Supply Chain Management pathway and heading to my last semester now.
Here are some of my comment on this course:-
1) Workload is kind of heavy - for every module, we have assignment to fulfilled with 3000 words for 3 module in each semester on a short time frame (2 months). A lot of time has to be put into researching for the right stuff for the module and assignment question
2) You must be mentally prepared for this course as you will need to sacrifice your weekend and night time just for writing on your assignment
3) Lecturer is all locals but they are all experienced enough to put their work experience together with the context. So far the lecturers that i have met is all quite good in teaching.
4) As this is a 2 yrs course in Newcastle but 16 mths here in Singapore, you can gauge that the time is very tight and sometimes we really have to CHIONG all the way.
5) Marking is quite stringent, basically there is 3 lecturer that will be marking your exam paper/assignment (1 local lecturer that the one that teaches u, sec marker is lecturer in Northumbria University at UK, third marker is an external marker of other university in UK)
6) Be prepared to say good bye to Saturday and Sunday. Most of the time we will have lesson on Sat from 9am-6pm/1pm-6pm, Sunday from 9am to 5PM and weekdays Tues and Thurs for weekday lesson, timing at either 7pm-10pm or 6.30pm-10.30pm (So you can imagine after lesson u need to rush back home to chiong assignment)
7) Lastly, the dissertation is a real killer. We will need to submit a dissertation consists of 10000 words in 3 mths time frame with 2 concurrent module of 3000 words assignment each (meaning that you will need to do 10k dissertation and 2x3000 words assignment in 3 mths)
All I can said that this course is so far great to me and provides me the knowledge that is relevant to my current work. It require a lot of analysis and brain storming as this Uni want its student's to think and think. Recognition wise, I can say its quite ok as this Uni is quite recognized here as its Business school is not bad in the UK. My company recognizes it and they provide great support in my degree.
If you really want to go for it, just pursue it! No pain no gain! If we can survived, why not you?
