What are the risk involved for reits?

1. REITs are generally leveraged business units. Rising interest rates can potentially affect profit margins.

2. REITs are not as attractive in high interest rates environments. other than for the reason mentioned above, REITs' performance is relative. for instance, a REIT that yields 6% in a low interest rate environment looks attractive. however, in a high interest rate environment, there may be plenty of other instruments that can give that yield easily with lesser risk.
