Hi,

I have this free iWorld brand keyboard protector gotten from IT Show when I purchased MBP.

I have used it for several months and I found that typing is difficult and usually misses a few key and also there is keyboard marking left on the screen which is caused by closing the lid.

I'm not sure if these issues is caused by the brand of this free keyboard protector or applies to all? I did researched on some branded keyboard protector like Moshi from apple store and saw similar feedback.

I wonder is there a really good keyboard protector which will not cause such issues? If there is, please recommend me :)

Or I should not use any keyboard protector and just clean my keyboard regularly?

Anyone did not use keyboard protector on their macbook (black keyboard) for several years and their keyboard still looks good? If so, maybe you can share on how you maintain e.g. using what cleaning solution and how often you clean?

Thanks

I had not used a keyboard protector on all my succeeding Macbooks due to an initial experience:

1. The protector turned a bit grayish after some time, together with the keyboard surface - like the exhaust was on the keyboard.

2. Yes, it leaves marks on the screen. Unless you remove it everytime you close the lid. Which is cumbersome for me.

Not using it since on my MBA (2.5 years) and MBP (1+ year). The keyboard still look good. No fades.

if never use, the keyboard will have those super shiny surface (due to our fingers having oily just like our face/ hairs etc). The printing on the keyboard still there but i dont like the shiny thingy. Cannot wipe off.

Then I use keyboard protector but the typing feeling not good.
to counter off the "mark" when closing it, i bought a Radtech cloth.

and currently I decided to take away the keyboard protector. My macbook pro already 4yrs+, i dont mind the shiny surface liao. But i still put that cloth when closing.

There's a mac accessories shop in funan that sells radtech. I paid quite a lot for it but never regret. Cus I'm a clean freak when it comes to my macbook.

Wear and tear is something that happens if you use it.
I don't like the feel, I only put the protector on closing my MBP, not too fussed if the keyboard isn't as nice looking.
Shows that I have been using it :)

My kb protector is just a transparent cover from Taobao. Like $2sgd. Prefer to type w it cos I no need to worry about dirty hands. And my screen have a matte protector so it won't leave marks on screen.
