SINGAPORE - It is arguable what is Singapore’s national dish, but this National Day, the chilli crab has certainly stolen the spotlight.
Fast food chain KFC announced on July 9 its Chilli Crab Mantou menu, in shell-abration of the nation’s birthday, a day after
McDonald’s unveiled its own crustacean-inspired offerings
, in collaboration with local restaurant Jumbo Seafood.
From July 23 to Sept 2, fans of the seafood dish will be able to get their claws on KFC’s Chilli Crab Mantou Burger (from $7.95) - a Zinger patty dressed in chilli crab sauce and pinched between an extra-large mantou, in place of regular burger buns.
Alternatively, one can tuck into the fast food chain’s Chilli Crab Chicken (from $9.70), which comes with two chicken pieces, two pieces of mantou and a chilli crab dip.
If you just want to enjoy the pairing of bun and gravy, a set of four mantous and a tub of chilli crab sauce will be available at $5.20.
Other than that, KFC will also offer the Ondeh Ondeh Egg Tart ($2.50) during this period.
