Hiiii ~

Heading to Khon Kaen soon for a weekend trip, anyone been there before? Googled and there's some interesting sights like a Dam/reservoir 45min drive away.

Anything interesting in the city, like local night markets or something? TIA !

Sounds good. Khon Kaen Dam? You referring to the main lake in the city?

Any idea the restaurants/pubs near KKU is along which road? So far i google there's this saturday walking street as well...it's in KKU or city itself?

Thanks !

oh yes, i was referring to the lake.. aka bueng kaen nakorn

i remember there was a stadium nearby and a small night market... many people jogging around the perimeter of the lake, myself included

Can try climbing up Phu Kradueng, a plateau in the National Park. Don't have to be super fit.
At the foot of the mountain, porters will weigh your barang barang and carry for u up to the mountain top.
Along the way, there's stalls selling u simple zi char food and drinks. On the mountain-top, there's small restaurants. Deer would come near u as u eat. You can bring your own camping gear or rent. There's chalets if u don't wish to camp under the sky. Very interesting experience. Almost all Thai visitors.

Yeah heard about this suan hun sa pub from my friend. Can try check it out. Probably i could expect KK to be a northeast version of Chiangmai?

Read that Phu Kradueng is currently closed during rainy season...was in Loei during New Year and went to Phu Reua instead. Something similar? :)

Yes, Phu Kradueng is closed from Jun to end-Sept.

Haven't done Phu Ruea but it seems both are similar in height (Phu Ruea 1,365 metres (4,478 ft) tall versus Phu Kradueng 1,316 m (4318 ft)).

How long did u take to complete the climb? Anything interesting on the mountain top?

JC from Retired Cheap Asia has done 3 YouTube videos on Khon Kaen

Actually i drove up to Phu Reau, and from there just a short hike. I went during late afternoon, quite a nice view towards the laotian side but didn't stay till sunset because the roads were dark.

Cool shall check out the clips :)
