Hi guys

Anyone can share your experience renting Kimono for few hours or maybe 1 day? Was planning autumn trip to Kyoto on end of Nov'18 with a lady & guy friend..

1) Any good route walking in Kimono?
2) Will your leg ache after few hours walking?
3) Average price for rental?

Thanks in advance :D

Philosopher's Path is a good walking route with notable temples nearby, all flat ground.

Colleague say it is quite cold at the feet and hard to walk as kimono restricts movement in the legs.

Does most temple areas allow rental of Kimonos? What's the estimated price for the rental?

Absolutely not, so you'll need to find a place that does. It's usually a shop nearby tourist facilities. My

wife hates wearing them - says it kills her feet and can't bend over, and summer as hot as hell :s22:

We did it at Yumeyakata last time in Spring! They will provide a matching jacket/haori during cooler months. We walked from Kiyomizudera to Nanzenji without much problem. The wooden slippers takes a while to get used to but it should be fine.

P.S. We walked to the mid mountain of Fushimi Inari Shrine as well.

My rental experience was in Tokyo so I can only mention what to look out for in the packages.

2) Will your leg ache after few hours walking?
My legs did not ache after walking for few hours, probably dependent on the shoes that they give you. I did find it restricting to walk since I'm used to taking bigger steps when walking :s13:

3) Average price for rental?
Cheaper rental can go as low as 2900yen but they might miss out stuff in the package such as hair styling and lesser accessories/ornaments. Really depends on what you looking for, just an experience or photo-taking.
