Which one has better support for purchasing of books?

I read that Amazon has many restrictions when it comes to buying their books as we are not US residents?

I don't think got such restriction anymore. My address I just use my Singapore address so far no problem. But I still just use gift card to buy instead of through credit card just incase.

I have always been buying my ebooks on amazon US kindle store without the need for a gift card.
And honestly, as a user of kobo nook(my 1st ereader) and kindle, I just prefer kindle. The interface and availability of books are wider than Kobo. There's really no contest.

If you’re buying your books, Kindle hands down. If you’re borrowing from NLB or libg*n, then Kobo would be preferable.

I got a different take on this. I always prefer Kobo and the epub format. That said I have a different e reader, a Likebook Mars.

If you buy your ebooks maybe you can try Kindle. But for someone like me who read lots of classics, or borrow from the NLB, why lock yourself with the Kindle proprietary system?

I have 2 kids reading, used to have a kindle but started to spoil.
I did some research and realized KOBO supported so many more format.

KOBO can USB file transfer of ebooks.

The final blow is KOBO connectivity to the national library board to borrow books using overdrive.

Now my 2 kids can browse NLB books and ready them themselves. no need to disturb me. :)

They can take payment but quite a number of books I wanted cannot be sold to SG

reason was copyright restrictions for SC market

end up gave up kindle app and audible subscription

anyone knows can kobo connect to mircosoft one drive, where my pdf are store?

Also, for kobo, can we buy from Amazon bookstore if we need a e book? Or they have their dedicated ebook store?

If you ever plan to buy from Amazon in the future, you might as well go Kindle from the beginning.
There is a Kobo ebook store though.
