Kinkakuji worth going?

one of the premier sights there.

although if u have time to spare the not so popular sights are not that crowded and much more pleasant.

i stayed in kyoto for 11 nights. love it there

Depends on whether you have time in your itinerary or not.
Personally, I prefer Arashiyama area + Kiyomizudera area (+Higashiyama streets) over Kinkakuji.

to be honest, it's a really great sight... but only to take photos. after that, nothing much liao.

You can visit Kinkakuji then take a bus there. I took a bus to Gion then walk to Arashiyama & Kiyomizudera. Bus guide available at the visitor center at Kyoto station.

Whether to go depends on you, to me both Kinkakuji and Kiyomizudera is worth the trip, but Kiyomizudera and Arashiyama has more things to see

kinkakuji is very iconic. so i feel it is worth a visit.
best time to go is during a bright sunny, when the whole pavilion shines in gold

Go there just to take photo of this and nothing else. Whether worth it or not is whether you like such things or not. For me, I went to the nearby Ninnaji Temple as well for late blooming sakura so the freaking cramped bus ride was more 'worth it.'

Much much better than Ginkakuji...
but if u only only have 1 day.. then go to arashiyama & kiyo then.. cos ginkakuji is a bit far away

I prefer Kiyomizudera over Kinkajuki over Ginkakuji... but that's my opinion...
I guess the surrounding environment plays apart as well and there's nothing much around the Kin and Gin temple area compared to the Kiyomizudera area. I think you should go once for the experience but probably not for second/third visits whereas I would definitely consider going to Kiyomizudera again.

that picture alone was worth the travel for me, it's very different seeing it up close and from pictures, it's just magnificent

but otherwise, arashiyama is more scenic
