bought the Rakuten pink version. ~$200 in total

first impressions:

it's super light and tiny in terms of feel, just nice for my wife's tiny hands.
must say it's FAST.. loaded a 400+MB CBR file in seconds!
page scrolling is fast for PDF, but still not ideal enough for musical scores.

multiple touch is fast and well executed - you 2-point scroll up/down for brightness and pinch for font adjustment (reading mode only)

great for reading, however bookshelf management is still simplistic, aka loaded 50 books from an existing SD card, and it felt a bit flooded, vs my Nook STR. I guess the Collections concept is important for managing books, but that takes time in itself, as I hadn't seen a multiple selection concept.

complaints? very finicky in microsd choice: wouldn't read a 64mb card, wouldn't read my Nook's card, reformatted FAT nor FAT32. Had no issues with a 32gb samsung class 10 though. Was decently fast indexing the 700+ files that were on the 32gb (it's a card used for work).
Also, still not quite sure if it's gorilla glass, hate to use any screen protectors nowdays.

too bad the Aura HD is not like this -- that one is based on the Glo.

I read that the web browser allows you to save files to disk, aka dropbox. Haven't tried.
I was using microsd and also USB via laptop, standard Mass Storage device.

Kind of missing my rooted Nook, where I just use Android apps to copy/move/delete books.

I ordered mine yesterday from Kobo. USD149.99, if based on Visa's exchange rate with local bank's commission, would cost me +/- SGD197.84

There seems to be very little covers for it, and the original Kobo Classic covers costs USD29.99. I bot this from Amazon.

Kobo website is now a b***h to use, you need US VPN to buy.

So... I bought from Rakuten, using tenso. They'll read the Jap for you.
There's a simple config file to edit (use PC with text editor) that changes Rakuten to Kobo to give the Pocket RSS access.

Slightly cheaper even + tenso fees.

Web browser etc is all under Beta features in Settings.

I also impulse-bought a Kobo H2O (very nice, but I already have a Retina 8" tablet) now looking to dispose.

Thanks for this. Just bought from Chapters Indigo and shipped to US forwader vPost to SG. The Kobo Aura H2O only costs $190sgd and Kobo Glo HD at $130sgd.

The H2O is quite heavy though so it feels uncomfortable to hold it one handed for long periods.

I love the H2O. Seriously beautiful.

As for the Glo HD, due solely to my fault, the substrate broke. The Glo HD was marvellous whilst it lasted. So, lucky it only cost sgd130. Anyway, now that Kindle has come up with the all new 300 ppi PW, I know what I am going to get for Christmas....

I tried it on my Kobo Mini and it worked! So, instead of having just 1.3GB space for books, I now have 15GB.
