I think there are more people using Kindle than Kobo but does that means Kindle is better?

I use Kindle Paperwhite and recently moved to Kindle Voyage (shouldn't spend that extra money), and now consider using Kobo.

Anyone use both platform before? Feedback?

I have nearly every gen of kindle ereaders, and 2 kobo ereaders (kobo hd 6.8" and kobo aura one 7.8").

I personally find kindle ereaders to be superior in terms of both hardware and software. Kobo makes good hardware, but it's weaker in the software department. I've mentioned in another post that the kobo readers really do have margin issues when you read an epub (and it can't be corrected by running the epub through calibre easily). The problem just doesn't get fixed over the years. My new Kobo aura one suffers from unaccountable battery drain now and then. However, kobo comes with good feature set which includes larger screen size, expendable storage, and now, night mode, it's easy to overlook some of the issues.

Another thing, my first kobo ereader (6.8") died after just about a year of use. But all my kindle ereaders feel as if they'll last forever. :)

To illustrate my point about kobo's margin issue, these are some pics I found with google:

Notice the large wasteful blank spaces on the bottom? Not a deal breaker, but can be bothersome.

I've been a Kobo user for some years. Started with Kobo Glo, then Kobo Aura and now Kobo Glo HD.

Never owned a Kindle but have played with my friend's Kindle PPW.

I feel that the page flip is much smoother on Kindle PPW as compared to my Kobo reader. This is the only advantage that I will consider switching to Kindle. The ads on Kindle are not really that bad but I really appreciate Kobo not having ads.

But Amazon does have many more books compared to Kobo e-book store.
