Hi bros, in the market for a new monitor to upgrade my 22" 1080 60hz monitor!

I'm interested in 4k panels and i've seen some reviews on Korean OEM 4k monitors (tek syndicate youtube channel)

40" 4k 60hz IPS/S-PVA (what consumer GPU can support 120FPS let alone 60FPS you need SLI or Crossfire 980TI or Furys so 60hz is fine and PPI is slightly better than my current monitor 110 > 100)

I plan to use it as a TV too, wall mount it and watch 4k content from my bed.

They're about USD$600-650 shipped (Expedited shipping 3-5 days to SG) And they are very well packed to minimize damage.

They look pretty promising, no obvious defects, no dead pixels, 1 year warranty (you have to pay for the shipping when delivering back to them)

I guess they are A grade panels that didn't meet Samsung / LG's AAA or AA standards, (maybe color reproduction not as superb) or doesn't have extra features like Freesync, Gsync etc...

So anyone of ya'll own them? (Brands like AMH, Wasabi, Microboard (best looking ones), etc...)

Also, I planned to get the Dell U3415W (34" 1440p curved) for $1k from my company (Retails $1.4-1.5k) any alternatives to this for the $1k price point?

Oh and do yall game in 4k? How is ultra setting/maxed out in 1080p vs medium in 4k?

With Polaris GPUs coming out from AMD, I hope to see better 4k handling GPUs but I think that might not be the case and we might have to wait for AMD Vega or Nvidia Pascal (Flagships) for a better 4k gaming experience. (High settings on 60FPS)

If u read reviews they don't last.

Some of them have issues out of the box but people recommend getting the perfect pixel option and specially requesting for it to be double checked before it leaves the factory and that yields the best results.

Really don't last uh? :C

Was looking forward to using one of them, any other bros using those 40" korean monitors?

Idk about the 4k ones but I'm using the 27" 1440p from Wasabi Mango. It has been more than a year since I got it. There wasn't any "perfect pixel" option when I got in and mine has 1 dead pixel. Not that bad considering it cost <$300 shipped. > 1 year considered a bonus for me :s13:

Here's my review on my monitor:
Last month, I bought wasabi mango UHD430 which is 43 inch IPS monitor at 4k 60hz (displayport 1.2 or hdmi 2.0) to replace my Dell p2715q. 27 inch is seriously too small to maximize use of 4k resolution.

So far its been really good with 0 dead pixel even though they said there MAY be 0-10 dead pixels. Well, 10 dead pixel on an about 8 million pixel monitor is definitely negligible.

I chose the standard edition cause it is the cheapest option at $750 (after all qoo10 rebates and credit card rebate). Perfect pixel would probably cost additional ~$300 which is not worth IMO if you are not fussy.

Gaming wise, with single GTX970, its a big no for ultra settings on top tier games (like GTA5, witcher3). I play on 1080p with those settings.
The monitor has freesync which will only benefit AMD users (i might switch to amd r480 when it arrives)

Cons: non-adjustable stand, screen is a little bit reflective (only during daytime), response rate feels a little slower than Dell P2715Q
Need to purchase separate equipment for wall mount

Yeah, current cards cant really handle 4k smoothly without Xfire or SLI but hopefully Pascal and Vega will be able to have 60 fps on high/ultra with no AA. I Never tried 4k monitor before, is gaming on 4k medium to high better than 1080p ultra maxed out @120fps? I think the next flagships will be able to offer 4k ultra @60fps so people wont be complaining about how blurry the pixels look. How is the seller in Qoo10? I think I might go the Ebay route as the seller there is very trusted, how fast was shipping?

Wow yeah wasabi seems to be a really popular one too, yeah normally perfect pixel on ebay costs $50 ish more cause more QC and you can request to check for BLB and other stuff.

Ah... But what kind of panels they use? I dont want a TN panel and AOC designs arent very appealing. Want a big one like Cloudiel has, 38-42"

Haha no no, there's an Ebay seller that is highly trusted and recommended by the tek syndicate forums and the seller actually does special requests if you ask for it. I think he goes by dream-seller 21k rating 99.5 positive.

Medium setting on 2160 is not as good as ultra on 1080 as there is still some fps drop. Low setting is no-go already. My graphic card is not that good for high-end 4k gaming.

The seller i bought from qoo10 is accessorieswhole. They go by the same name on Ebay so should be ok. The shipping was fast, within 3 working days.

They do? They ship world wide and Singapore is not on their excluded list.

Ok, thanks bro! Shall check them out! Wah liddat ah... Then should I get a 120hz 1440p or just get the 4k and play on 1080 (super sampled) I just scared I get a 1440p then 4k handling GPUs come out then need switch! :X

There is still a risk buying Korean monitors, be it warranty or build/QC issues for certain brands. My crossover 27" 1440p is coming 4 years and still going strong. Planning to get a minimum 43" 4k monitor this year after their model refresh, will game at 1440p. As long the PPI is acceptable to your eyes, nothing wrong to game at a lower res.

I used to own the Qnix 2710 1440p.

What i can say is, its cheap, but with a lot more cons to benefit from owning one of it.

Risk of having dead pixels coming in is real. Do not try to buy pixel perfect, what they actually did was to go through a form lf stress testing before shipping it out. What makes you think that after stress testing these pixels will come in perfect to you after a few months of usage?

Second thing is the limited in connectivities. Although some model has multi inputs, but yet they cant be overclocked for higher refreshing rates. And they do not have build in scaler for it. So dont expect the monitors to work with a external source, such as ps4, xbox 360 that will only output 1080p. They wont work be it on 4k or 1440p.

The stand provided are usually thin and flimsy. It kinda wobble easily.

And funny thing is, the QX2710 has no way to vesa mount with the stand attached. One need to pry open the entire monitor to take out the stand in order to do a vesa mount.

With the ease of mind, go for normal mainstream brands. With proper on site warranty support, and with scaler, multi inputs, a much sturdier stand options, a proper vesa mount etc.

With that said, the options are up to you. Skimp on monitor, get it dirt cheap, with more cons than usual, or pay more with the ease of mind with everything covered.

Do note that buying monitor is a long term investment. Not something that one keep changing it.

Currently using a Crossover 44K for about 10 months. Absolutely love it. No problems what so ever. Bought through Qoo10. I have yet try 21:9 monitors so can't say much. However if you need screen estate and you have the room to even house a 34" 21:9 monitor, a 40" 16:9 monitor takes up the same width but has much more height (love that screen estate!)

I paid about $900 SGD IIRC.

I did write and film a video on me talking about my experience on a 40" 4K and whether you should get one: https://www.swiftworld.net/2015/07/14/crossover-44k-404k-40-inch-4k-korean-monitor-impressions/

Feel free to ask me any specific questions.

Hey you're a life saver, haha I know, I was thinking of the 34" 1440p 21:9 Dell Curved Monitor (U3415W) so this would be just slightly bigger, I gravitated to 4k as more content is being released @ the resolution, Netflix especially so it'll be doubling as a monitor / TV in my room. I have enough bandwidth to stream 4k content. (I THINK) (760Mbps down and 820Mbps up)

So in your review productivity wise you said going from a 32" 1440p to a 40" 4K isnt going to be much different in your workflow (I too wont be using a large number of multiple windows)

I think the 4k monitor would suit my needs better as a TV / gaming monitor. Have you tried wall mounting it or using it on a VESA arm?

Some of the 40" monitors are only 22lbs so normal monitor VESA arms can support it, just that height clearance from the desk might be an issue...

This product looks promising. Perhaps we can notify our sellers to launch pre-order and bring it in to Singapore with a more affordable price. Stay tuned!

I'm currently using it on its default stand. Some monitor VESA arms might work, like you said the main issue is the clearance and of course the weight supported.

Yes so far productivity wise I don't really feel much difference. YMMV. For example, If I'm using it for programming I mostly open my IDE at one side, a open web browser for api/googling, another for the app and my messaging app. All of which can be done with great effect too on a 32"/27" 1440P.

Perhaps I'm not too used yet (even after 10 months :s13:) to fully utilize the space.
