K-pop girl group IVE returns Monday with its second full-length album "REVIVE+," marking a new chapter for the six-member act as it steadily reshapes itself into a generational icon and builds on its connection with younger K-pop audiences.

Composed of An Yu-jin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz and Leeseo, the group held a press event at YES24 Live Hall in eastern Seoul, just hours ahead of the album's official release, offering a first look at the band's creative direction and a live performance of the key track.

"It feels special to return with a full-length album after nearly three years," Gaeul said. "Rather than just showing how we've changed, we worked together to present a more evolved and grown-up version of IVE."

"I'm proud that we were able to put everything we've built under the name IVE into this album," Rei added. "We'll work hard to show a wide range of charms."

According to the group, "REVIVE+" is more than a declaration of a new concept. Since debuting with "Eleven" and following it with a string of hits including "Love Dive," "After LIKE," "I AM" and "HEYA," IVE has built a narrative centered on individual confidence.

This time, however, the story expands to embrace a broader collective perspective.

"As much as we've grown, the word that represents us has also evolved from loving 'myself' to 'us,'" Jang said. "This album includes songs that not only we sing, but that listeners can sing along to as well."

Gaeul echoed the sentiment, noting that the group aimed to broaden its concept to resonate with a wider audience.

"We wanted to create music that brings comfort and relatability not just to ourselves, but to many listeners," she said.

Leeseo also pointed out a symbolic shift within the group.

"The biggest difference from our previous releases is that all members are now adults. I turned 20 this year, so please look forward to seeing IVE as fully grown ups."

The 12-track album includes double title tracks "BLACKHOLE" and "BANG BANG," along with B-sides "Hush," "Stuck In Your Head," "Fireworks," and "HOT COFFEE." It also compiles solo songs revealed during the group's latest world tour — Jang's "8," Gaeul's "Odd," Leeseo's "Super ICY," Liz's "Unreal," Rei's "In Your Heart" and An's "Force."

Ahead of the full album drop, IVE released "BANG BANG" on Feb. 9 as a pre-release track. The song's confident and provocative energy quickly propelled it into the upper ranks of major local streaming charts.

In contrast, newly unveiled title track "BLACKHOLE" leans into a cinematic soundscape, delivering expansive sonic textures reminiscent of a film score.

"It reminds me of the film 'Interstellar,'" An said. "Compared to the pre-release song, this one features a much grander performance."

Beyond its cinematic sound, "BLACKHOLE" also appears to address longstanding critiques that IVE's performances leaned too heavily on visuals.

During the press showcase, members presented a dynamic stage built on powerful choreography and live vocals, balancing their signature visual elegance with a more refined and passionate performance style.

"I think one of the defining traits of K-pop comes from synchronized group choreography," An said. "That's why we incorporated a mega crew performance to make the stage more exciting to watch."

For years, IVE's identity has been closely tied to a concept that emphasized visual polish. While that image helped define the group's early success, some fans expressed concerns that it risked becoming too fixed, raising questions about whether they leaned too heavily on aesthetics.

With "REVIVE+," the group intentionally steps away from that image, embracing a bolder energy. According to the members, the shift was driven by a desire to keep audiences curious about what comes next.

"I want us to become artists who make people wonder about our next move," Liz said. "We've done a lot of princess-like concepts before, so we wanted to try something new this time. Thankfully, many people have responded positively, and I hope this era makes people even more curious about us."
