Hi everyone! Was bored and did some calculations on various KrisFlyer miles redemptions values compared against SIA's published airfares. Full Write-Up is here if you're interested.

If you're new to the miles game, it actually doesn't take that many miles (or credit card points) to redeem flights - around 30k takes you to Hong Kong on SIA Suites class liao. Hope the write-up is useful for you.

The taxes/surcharges are much higher in the J and F class category right?

Haha no, did the searching earlier and only post in the morning :p

As far as I know taxes/surcharges are standard across all classes for the same flight/destination pairs. It's only the base fare itself which varies quiet greatly.

Not true. There is *some* variation when I checked Y vs J class SIN-CHC. I think it was in the order of a hundred bucks.

I guess it makes sense for the fuel surcharge to be higher cause J and F takes up more space on the aircraft?

Based on my experience, the fuel surcharge is different across classes.

I did one search, it was the same on Y vs F, and assumed it was the same across. Dammit, now I need to redo every single search and record the surcharges as well lol.

[edit] OK, on the longer routes (Europe, Americas), J and F totally have larger surcharges than Y, F over Y seems to be on average 15-20% more. Learn something new every day!
