I think only singapore and malaysia use this kind of filmsy thin foil bar false ceiling support. The vertical bar and horizontal bar are joined using self tapping screws. Other countries are use proper steel suspension rod, steel horizontal bar and joined with bolt.

Watched a china renovation show helped a china viewer to renovate malaysia house. The china contractor saw the false ceiling construction method got shocked.

Not surprising as most contractors in Singapore are Malaysians. 3rd world standards. (n)

It's high time they renovate the mall. More and more makeshift stores. One of my favourite mall. But I only go there for the food, pharmacies and supermarket.

Ceiling at JB's KSL shopping mall collapses over multiple stores

No injuries have been reported so far.

A ceiling collapsed at the second floor of KSL shopping mall in Johor Bahru on Mar. 8.

According to Malaysian media, the incident appeared to have occurred in the evening, between 6pm and 7pm.

Scenes of the collapsed ceiling were uploaded to social media, showing extensive damage with iron girders protruding downwards.

In addition, the ceiling appeared to have fallen over the kiosks of multiple stores.

No injuries reported so far

Thus far, no injuries among members of the public or the staff of stores have been reported.

One netizen claimed that he had been in a massage parlour nearby when he heard a loud noise and went out to check, only to discover to his shock that the ceiling had collapsed, according to China Press.

China Press
cited speculation from witnesses that the heavy rain earlier in the day may have been a factor, but said this was not confirmed.

Another video uploaded to social media showed that the area affected by the collapsed ceiling was eventually cordoned off, presumably by the mall's security.

China Press reported that queries to the shopping mall about the incident were still unanswered at the time of publication.

This is a premonition warning of what the SG-KL HSR will be like. Quality of construction is very bad.
If SG is stupid enough to agree to Restart.
And in a HSR train accident there would be many fatalities.

Instantly Malaysia will blame SG. (because SG agree to join Malaysia to co-build).
Leading to terrible tensions between 2 countries.
The real cause would be endemic corruption and cutting corners during construction.

In the mean time, Malaysia Govt keeps repeating loudly that it will not spend 1 cent on the project.
The money must come from other people/private sector/Singapore.
It is a wasteful useless project that is a parallel track to the already existing ETS line.

If left to private sector the ticket price can be as high as RM$1,000 one-way from SG to KL.
In order for private sector to recover the investment.
Who in Malaysia population wants to pay this much. It will be a white elephant.
