Besides Kiyomizudera, Kinkkakuji, Niko, etc. Need tips and advice on the non-touristy attractions but still reachable by public transport. So far I have come across this site but I am sure there are others which are still reachable but less tourists.

Personally I have been to Otani Hombyō on the way to Kiyomizu. Almost zero tourists and need to walk through the cemetery on the way. Quite creepy as we were the only souls close to sunset. This was quite some time ago before Google Maps and such.

You can fill up the recommended list as such so its easier for us to navigate/visualize. Interesting shops, eateries, etc are welcome.

Northwest Kyoto (Kinkakuji area)
1.

Northeast Kyoto (Gion area)
1. Otani Hombyō (creepy cemetry parallel to busy street to Kiyomizudera, enter by its side gate)

Southeast Kyoto (Fushimi Inari area)
1.

Central Kyoto (station area)
1.

Arashiyama
1.
