Hi all, I am planning if I should get a KEP for my Kyushu trip and saw the following T&Cs from the website:

Please be aware that KEP will not apply in the following situations. In these situations, KEP will not apply for the whole portion of relevant driving regardless of whether or not there was some driving on the ride areas.
  • Entering from an interchange within the ride area and exiting an interchange not in the ride area
  • Entering from an interchange not in the ride area and exiting from an interchange in the ride area
  • Entering from an interchange not in the ride area and exiting from an interchange not in the ride area
  • Driving outside of the usage period stated in the completed application
  • Driving on toll roads not operated by NEXCO West Japan

E.g if I drive from 九州自然動物公園 to Hakata Station, I would need to go through Oita Expressway, Kyushu Expressway and Fukuoka Urban Expressway. However, Fukuoka Urban Expressway is not covered by KEP.

- Since this is the case, can I still use KEP to cover the toll charges for Oita and Kyushu expressway?
- Are the toll charges paid separately at each gantry of the expressway?

You can use the KEP to cover the rest , when you rent a car , get the car with ETC card , so when you are ok any highway that’s not covered not covered by KEP , just drive thru the ETC lane , the charges will be recorded . Then when you return your rental car they will charge accordingly base on what was charged to the ETC card
