Hi peeps would like to check if the order of my trip is ok or can be improved. Whether i should add or remove any places and whether it is too rushed.

not sure if aso crater is still closed coz recently got some volcanic activities. but i think the area ard it shld still be open, at least can get to see komezuka

Aso ropeway is still closed now hopefully by feb next year it will resume operations

Just to add i will be using trains and buses.

1. Any advice on how to fully utilise the rail pass/sun q pass with my itinerary or i should just buy point to point tickets.

2. If i decide to bus to nagasaki from fukuoka airport, can i just buy the tickets for the next bus or is there a need to reserve in advance. Is also the highway bus terminal near jr nagasaki station?

3. Lastly if i were to buy the rail pass from fukuoka airport can i made seat reservations from there or do i have to do it at the jr counter at nagasaki station.

Only thing I want to add is that it doesn't appear in your itinerary that you are visiting Sakurajima? Quite a waste since you are already at Kagoshima.

option2: 5-day northern kyushu pass for day1 to day5, 5-day all kyushu pass for day6 to day10, and the rest using single trip tickets. cost: 34050

Good point. If aso ropeway is still closed, i will skip a day in kumamoto and spend another one in kagoshima or else i will have to try to squeeze it in either day 6 or 7.

Sweet! Guess i have to wait till my itinerary is confirmed before doing the calculations. As unsure is it still worth to visit aso if the ropeway is closed. Guess it will be a combination of rail passes and point to point tickets.

Just to check for the places i am going, is it advisable to buy the tickets in advance/reserve seats or i can buy it on the day itself when i am at the station. My concern is whether certain routes the train will be full or fully reserved seats.
