Hi guys,

Im experiencing significant lag during my BF4 and BF Hardline multiplayer. DUring gameplay, it would lag. I checked my ping, but it's not high. Also, when exiting, it would significantly lag to desktop.

My current specs is on my signature. I recently changed from a gt640 to a 7870 2gb. even on the gt640 at lowest setting would experience this issue.

However, on my dad's Asus AIO pc, an i5 with an gt720 or so, it doesnt lag as much. Is it my hard disk or am I lacking on ram? Upon exit, the RAM usage for Firefox (used to launch BF) would be around 380 000.

Ive tried switching from wireless to powerline, but no changes. what's my bottleneck here.. :(

Get core temp/cpu-z and msi afterburner and check your temps and clock speeds to see if your parts are throttling. 6GB ram should be sufficent

yeah i have 1 tab. im averaging on 60-70fps as ive reduced to medium settings though i can go higher. However, sometimes during intense battle or when i die or getting revived, FPS drops to 10 -40 ..

im tempted to try switching from powerline to wireless AC. im averaging on 20mbps according to speedtest .. not sure if wireless will be worst if im on AC

Nah I don't think so 6gb ram is sufficient.

BF4 and Hardline execute on 64bit will exceed 6gb ram.

TS what I advice is, borrow an 8gb ram stick and try first. If it works then most probably you can go get yourself a new piece of ram.

Your OS is window Vista right?

Mine was Window Vista 32bit back then, battlefield lag like hell when i was using a HD6850. Once i clean install to Window 8.1, everything works smoothly.

I think the latest graphic driver does not support Window Vista.

6GB RAM is sufficient. I'm running it multiplayer on 4GB just fine.

Like the other bros said the RAM shouldn't be the problem unless the RAM itself is faulty or you have some resource hog in your system that's running in the background.

Don't worry about powerline or AC, it doesn't affect FPS that much.

Do check your CPU temperatures and clock speeds. Your symptoms sound like possible CPU throttling

If your CPU is not throttling, check your startup and disable anything you don't need, and ensure you have all the latest drivers installed.

Nah depends.

There are reported users using 4gb rams and execute BF4 64bit. No doubt it mentioned that it needs just 4gb rams. But when people does that, during gameplay it fully saturated 4gb. And when there is not enough memory and time to clear, it went stuttering and sluggish performance. Not because of CPU nor GPU issues.

Here are some videos where some people stutter badly and lags when they have 4gb ram.

Now the the user have reported that the game will utilize anything between 5gb to 6gb. So if you have things running on background. Could be anything, apps, ie explorer, chrome, whatever that is running heavily using ram, you will fully saturate your 6gb ram.

Check your RAM usage when you are gaming. Alt tab out and go into task manager, you should be fully utilizing the 6gb. That is what I suspect.

I run it with battle screen on chrome with TS and procon and and shadowplay it uses 7.8Gb....you can never go wrong with more ram.

And one more thing the BF data packet does not stop at the server your playing on. Data gets sent to EA back-end for some other calculation.

You playing 32bit or 64bit? The 64bit is buggy I think. Cause after playing for 1+ hr, I saw the memory usage is 10+GB..... crazy. I didn't try for 32bit one though.

Hmm good point here. Not sure about this because I'm not experiencing the same issues with the rig on the right --> It's on 4gigs RAM now because my mobo RAM contacts oxidized and I haven't got time to clean it

I did some Googling around and it seems to only affect users of AMD graphics who didn't update their graphics drivers.

Not sure if it's running fine because I've optimized my startup. I'm hitting only 3.6GB with BF4 and Chrome and I'm using an old AMD graphics card which was confirmed to have the memory leak when using old AMD drivers.

I'm actually on 64-bit. I read this comment over here which may suggest that certain installations may be buggy and can be fixed by a reinstallation:

How y'all such low ram consumption while playing BF4? I get 7.8-7.9Gb while game is running.

I have 2 monitors so I can open task manager on the other one.

I'm running TS, procon, shadowplay and battle screen while is game is on.

Then there must be something leaking around le.

But since you mentioned shadowplay. I think that will probably be one that have high ram usage when recording i think.

Cause for Amd, im using raptr. And raptr keeps recording, the longer they record, the more ram it uses.

Might be chrome though. I don't feel the effect if it leaking also. Maybe I try on IE tonight.

this is exactly what im facing lol. would be playing and halfway i will lag like that. after a while ok.. then intermittently the lag happens again.. especially after new map loads .

now contemplating ordering a 16gb kit from amazon.. as it's so much cheaper.. and amazon prime ships to Singapore..
