Hi all,

I've been noticing that my notebook lags during startup, and the lag lasts for a while even after I get all the way to the desktop screen. This happened only after I upgraded my OS to W8 from W7 HP. Laptop itself is slightly over 1 year old, hardly used. The specs are as follows:

i-7 3520M
8GB RAM
Integrated GPU
W8 Pro

Can anyone advise me on what's causing the lag?

you have to explain what you mean by lag. also, what exactly lags during startup, do you mean startup takes a long time? does it 'lag' after reaching desktop still, will the lag ever stop eventually?

anyway, i am guessing you dropped your laptop?
another guess it you should clean install windows 8, not upgrade.

Yup the lag stops eventually, and no I haven't dropped the laptop before. The lag which I was referring to was the slow response clocked by the pc itself - right clicks or any launches takes like 10 secs to register. I'm thinking it might be due to the clean install portion as mentioned. Is there a way which I will be able to rectify this issue now? Would a reformat be of use in this case?

You may want to try a Refresh, then if that doesn't work, a Reset to Factory. Don't need to do a reinstall.
But it sounds like you might want to try updating your drivers.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try to see if it works! :)
