Laggy MBP

Hi all, i have no idea what happened to it. I use to be able to play games without lag on it. Recently, it have just seemed to go laggy very badly. It is like 1 second lag and other okay. It goes on through the game.


What can i do? It is a 2012 2.6gHz model i think and is already running on 8gb Ram

It could be due to Spotlight trying to index your time-machine drive which is ever growing and also takes long time to backup. This problem apparently started from one of the updates in Mountain Lion. In my case I decided to place my time machine backup drive under privacy from Spotlight indexing. After this, my MBP (circa 2008) became fast again. There are lots of discussion about spotlight and time machine causing Mac to be really slow.
